DISCIPLINE/AREA OF CONCENTRATION:
Transportation Tech
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of AASHTO, State (FDOT) and Municipal (Green Book) design criteria, standards and plans preparation requirements.
- Knowledge in Signalization, Lighting, Utilities, Intelligent Transportation Systems and Tolling.
- Knowledge of codes, principles and practices of engineering.
- Knowledge of design techniques for developing solutions for engineering problems.
- CADD skills, including 3D.
- Excellent verbal, technical writing and presentation skills.
- Problem solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to develop high-quality design plans and check the design work of others for accuracy and quality.
- Ability to understand, analyze, and process complex technical information.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Engineering:
- Engineer of Record where needed.
- Makes design recommendations, adaptations, and modifications. Performs calculations using engineering formulas and skills.
- Prepares reports and correspondence.
- Serves as a technical advisor and mentor to junior-level project team members.
- Post-design services during construction.
Contract Documents:
- Develops plans, specifications, and reports in accordance with engineering standards and client requirements.
- Leads or participates in the design process to deliver successful projects. Work may include:
- field investigations or inspections
- detailed design work and plans preparation
- detailed checks of design computations and plans done by other.
- coordination of specific design elements.
Project Management:
- Plans, schedules, conducts and coordinates technical and administrative activities to deliver assignments that meet client requirements.
Business Development:
- Assists with technical write-ups or other content as needed for proposals.
- Assists with concept development for project approaches, etc. in proposals.
- Participates in project development or business development activities with clients.
EXPERIENCE:
- Typically five (5)+ years of relevant experience.
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
- Licensed as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) required.
