Premier Surgery Center is seeking a full time Director of Surgical Services for our Brunswick, GA location.
Primary Duties: Job Title: Director of Surgical Services
Job Supervisory Responsibilities: Clinical operations, Operating Room, Preop, PACU, Pain Management, Extended Recovery Unit, Materials Management, Patient Access
General Summary: Director is responsible for all aspects of nursing care delivery in the surgery center. The Director is also responsible for regulatory and accreditation oversight for the surgery center. This position oversees the clinical operations group which includes patient education, anesthesia clearance, pre-testing and pre-assessment. Assumes responsibility of the Administrator in his/her absence. As a Registered Nurse, the Director is also responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and coordinating patient care from admission to discharge.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
1. Provides leadership oversight to ensure patient needs are met in accordance with instructions of physician and facility's policies & procedures.
2. Provides direction to others that is clear, concise and promotes efficiency throughout the clinical areas of the facility.
3. Demonstrates respect for co-workers & leadership, and develops positive working relationships within departments.
4. Maintains high quality of care by nursing staff through continuous improvement of standards and protocols. Ensures all staff are trained in quality assurance/control requirements and meet these standards.
5. Analyzes and correlates clinical data with patient's care.
6. Participates at management level in all planning, budgeting, policy making, and decision making related to clinical operations.
7. Ensures that patient care processes related to risk management, reimbursement, financial management, and other administrative functions are incorporated into operational systems.
8. Monitors outcome and quality benchmarks, budget results, patient satisfaction surveys and drives improvement results in areas of identified opportunity.
9. Establishes plan for patient care staff including need for numbers and types of staff. Works with nurse managers and team leaders to recruit, select, orient, and train new staff.
10. Makes sure the performance and productivity of all staff are evaluated on a regular basis throughout the year and annually. Advises on appropriate corrective actions, development and continuing education opportunities.
11. Stays current with state, federal, and payer regulations/requirements and updates professional standards for nursing for the ambulatory surgery center setting.
Education: BSN required
Experience: Minimum 5 years of Perioperative nursing experience with progressively increasing management/operations experience.
Other Requirements: Current Ga State RN license. Current CPR certification, ACLS, and PALS certification.
Performance Requirements:
Knowledge:
1. Knowledge and experience in the operation of an ASC with special attention to Surgery and Recovery
2. Knowledge of nursing principles, practices, and procedures.
3. Knowledge of federal, state, and payer regulations and requirements related to nursing including patient safety, infection control, and confidentiality.
4. Knowledge of quality assurance, risk management, utilization management, and outcomes management standards.
Skills:
1. Skill in the human resource management of staff from recruitment through evaluation.
2. Skill in utilizing computerized systems to gather data, analyze results, and make recommendations.
3. Skill in developing/monitoring budgets and maintaining cost-effective nursing practices.
Abilities:
1. Ability to analyze data, problem solve, and make decisions related to nursing issues.
2. Ability to effectively communicate with all levels and all departments.
3. Ability to collaborate with senior managers to improve clinical operations.
Equipment Operated: Standard office equipment with emphasis on computer hardware and software. Occasional use of nursing equipment, particularly for training purposes.
Work Environment: Primarily medical offices. Rare contact with patients. Some external meetings with payers, regulators, and industry representatives.
