Mid-Level Employment Associate (Los Angeles or San Diego)

Direct Counsel is seeking a Mid-Level Employment Associate to join a prestigious Am Law 100 firm. This position is available in either the Los Angeles or San Diego office. The ideal candidate will have strong litigation and advisory experience in employment law and will work closely with a sophisticated client base on a range of employment matters.
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and litigate class action and single-plaintiff employment matters, including claims related to wage and hour violations, misclassification, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, breach of contract, and wrongful termination.
  • Provide strategic advice and counsel on a range of employment issues, including restrictive covenants, employee mobility, compensation structures, employee policies, leave of absence, and accommodations (FMLA, ADA).
  • Draft and negotiate employment-related agreements, including offer letters, severance agreements, and restrictive covenant agreements.
  • Conduct employment due diligence and advise on labor and employment aspects of corporate transactions.
  • Represent clients before state and federal courts, as well as administrative agencies.

Qualifications
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to practice in California is required.
  • 3-5 years of experience in employment law, including litigation, advice and counsel, PAGA, and transactional work.
  • Strong knowledge of California and federal employment laws, including wage and hour laws, discrimination laws, and experience with administrative proceedings.
  • Experience in the defense of class and collective actions, as well as providing day-to-day employment counsel to corporate clients.

Compensation & Benefits
  • The expected annual salary range for this position is $260,000 - $365,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
  • Comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision insurance, and 401(k).
