We are responsible for building the core intelligence, insights, and algorithms that support work related to Amazon's physical stores. We are tackling complex problems by bringing together numerous data assets from disparate sources, and using best-in-class modeling solutions to extract the most information out of them. The successful candidate will:
- Be considered a technical leader for the team.
- Proactively fix architecture deficiencies and/or propose larger projects, which may require the work of your team.
- Show good judgment when making technical trade-offs between your team's short-term technology or operational needs and long-term business needs.
- Bring perspective and provide context for current technology choices and guide future technology choices.
- Set standard for code submissions and work ethics.
- Write software that is easy for others to contribute to.
- Contribute to the professional development of colleagues, improving their technical knowledge and the engineering practices on the team.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $151,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
