POSITION: HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPAL 2025-26
REPORTS TO: SUPERINTENDENT
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Depending upon individual assignment, the Principal performs all or a combination of several of the following duties. This list of essential functions is not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary.
Leadership and Judgment
Articulate and support the mission, goals, policies, procedures and administrative directives of the District. Set high expectations and motivate others to achieve high levels of performance. Provide a visible presence in buildings and in the community. Work collaboratively with staff, students, parents, and other members of the school community to help improve student learning. Utilize leadership skills of staff, parents, and students to achieve District and school improvement goals. Demonstrate collaborative leadership to articulate, develop, implement, and evaluate school improvement goals. Demonstrate good judgment and problem-solving skills. Utilize data to develop, implement, and evaluate school improvement goals. Participate in, support, and provide leadership in District administrative team activities. Work cooperatively with staff and parents to meet the needs of all students. Deal with obstacles and constraints positively.
Office/School Administration and Management
Assist with the selection of personnel and assign appropriate work roles to staff. Develop, implement and monitor plans for the efficient and safe operation of the school facility and grounds. Develop and employ plans for emergency situations. Collaborate with others in decisions concerning school operations and safety. Delegate appropriate tasks and responsibilities. Participate on District committees and accept other assignments when asked. Work with office staff and others to develop systems that lead to the efficient management of the school office. Demonstrate knowledge of and uphold all policies, procedures, regulations, laws, and contractual obligations to effectively manage the school facility and instructional programs. Supervise and approve the preparation and timely submission of all school reports and forms for the District Office, e.g., payroll, enrollment, work orders, requisitions, etc.
Supervision
Oversee and direct the CTE program for the District Oversee the ALE program Demonstrate knowledge of and uphold the laws, regulations, policies, and contractual obligations related to the supervision and evaluation of school personnel. Ensure classified and certificated staff members understand their duties and responsibilities. Maintain a confidential relationship with employees regarding individual personnel matters. Provide appropriate, timely, and meaningful verbal and written feedback to certificated and classified staff regarding performance. Develop a plan for remediation with certificated or classified staff when needed and recommend appropriate probation and termination whenever necessary. Provide appropriate assistance to certificated and classified staff when needed. Work with certificated and classified staff to develop and support attainment of individual and group goals. Be accessible for consultation with certificated and classified staff. Work with teachers and program specialists to develop strategies for meeting needs of individual students in the classroom. Demonstrate effective coaching, mentoring, and conferencing skills. Encourage collegial teamwork and projects when appropriate. Help provide inservice and professional growth opportunities for staff when needed.
Interest in Personnel and Programs
Curriculum and Instruction: Demonstrate knowledge of effective learning practices. Demonstrate knowledge of K-12 school district curricula and assessment practices. Articulate and help develop the best practices in the instructional program. Provide support and resources to school staff to employ effective classroom strategies that meet student needs. Assess school climate and student learning needs. Work with staff to develop effective instructional programs to meet the needs of all students. Help maintain a positive learning environment for all members of the school community. Establish efficient schedules and other organizational routines that enhance instructional program improvement and student learning. Demonstrate knowledge and use of technology as an essential learning tool in the classroom and overall instructional program. Provide a safe school environment for all members of the school community. Assign staff and develop a master schedule to best meet the needs of students. Establish effective strategies for improving student achievement. Work cooperatively with District administrators and program specialists to meet student needs. Provide a variety of opportunities for student involvement in extra-curricular activities. Students: Promote feelings of personal worth and high morale of the student body. Administer District and building policies and procedures on student rights, responsibilities, corrective action and due process. Show interest in students and their concerns. Communication: Communicate frequently and effectively with all members of the school and District community. Demonstrate effective speaking, listening, and writing skills. Maintain a positive relationship with students, staff, parents, and community. Create numerous opportunities to promote the school and its goals for improvement. Model respect, cooperation, and professionalism with others. Motivate others to do their best. Maintain a positive and caring interpersonal relationship with others. Demonstrate effective problem-solving skills. Solicit and value the opinions of others. Recognize the personal achievements and professional contributions of others. Represent the school in maintaining positive public relations. Demonstrate knowledge of and sensitivity toward individuals and groups from all racial, ethnic, socio-economic, gender, disability, and lifestyle backgrounds. Report student progress in a meaningful way to parents. Develop and maintain an effective parent/student volunteer program.
School Finance
Allocate and monitor resources and budgets according to District and school program needs. Work cooperatively with other District administrators and program specialists to secure resources and support for school needs. Ensure building spending within established budgetary levels. Follow established procedures in purchasing and distributing supplies, services, and materials. When practical, utilize staff, parents and students to help establish budget priorities.
Professional Preparation and Scholarship
Work cooperatively with his or her supervisor, or designee, to develop realistic goals for personal growth and organizational improvement. Demonstrate responsibility for pursuing goals and professional growth. Demonstrate knowledge of the best practices and innovations in educational leadership, program development, and instruction. Participate in essential professional growth opportunities. Apply new knowledge and skills in practice. Participate in professional organization activities. Initiate or share new ideas with colleagues.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to obtain Washington State Principal Certificate prior to the first contracted day
- Five years of successful teaching experience
- Master's degree in Education Administration or related field
- Fingerprinting

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- 210 day contract concurrent with school calendar
- Contract start date July 1, 2025
- Salary range at $123,704- $130,508 (DOE)
