Location: Washington, D.C. (Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence and Security - OUSD(I&S))

Clearance Requirement: Top Secret (TS) Clearance, SCI Eligible
Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Influence, Deception, and Perception Management Activities Staff Officer to provide administrative, policy, operations, and analytic support to the Sensitive Activities & Special Programs (SASP) Office within the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence and Security (OUSD(I&S)) and its directorates.

The ideal candidate will have expertise in influence operations, information warfare, deception strategies, and perception management within the Department of Defense (DoD) and Intelligence Community (IC). This role requires a strong background in policy development, program oversight, and capability development to support national security objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide policy analysis, strategic planning, and operational support for influence, deception, and perception management activities.
  • Develop and coordinate DoD-wide policy guidance related to information operations, military deception, and strategic influence.
  • Support the oversight and execution of influence and deception-related programs across the defense and intelligence enterprise.
  • Analyze and assess the capabilities, resourcing requirements, and effectiveness of influence and perception management activities.
  • Prepare and deliver briefings, reports, and policy recommendations to senior DoD leadership.
  • Collaborate with interagency partners, allied forces, and intelligence organizations to enhance operational effectiveness.
  • Monitor and assess emerging trends in psychological operations (PSYOP), cyber influence campaigns, and adversary disinformation tactics.
  • Ensure compliance with DoD policies, legal frameworks, and ethical considerations related to influence and deception operations.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in political science, intelligence studies, strategic communications, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in policy development, program oversight, guidance, capabilities development, or resourcing requirements within the DoD.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in an influence, information operations, or deception position within the DoD or Intelligence Community (IC).
  • Active TS clearance with SCI eligibility.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess complex strategic challenges.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for briefing senior officials and drafting policy documents.
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced, high-security environment with shifting priorities.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in national security, intelligence, strategic communications, or a related discipline.
  • Experience working within OUSD(I&S), U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM), U.S. Cyber Command (USCYBERCOM), or related organizations.
  • Familiarity with cognitive warfare, adversary influence tactics, and emerging information warfare technologies.
  • Background in psychological operations (PSYOP), strategic messaging, or cyber-enabled influence operations.
