Pharmacy Manager

Full Time

Keystone Health (KH) is dedicated to providing exceptional patient care through the highest standards of pharmaceutical services. We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Pharmacy Manager to join our team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review and interpret physician prescriptions; enter medication orders into patient profiles and verify accuracy of patient profile as related to drug incompatibilities, drug interaction, patient allergies/sensitivities, etc., and consult with prescribers to clarify or change medication orders.
  • Advise patients, physicians and other health practitioners on the selection, dosages, interactions, and side effects of medications as well as monitor the health and progress of patients to ensure they are using their medications safely and effectively.
  • Maintain records, such as pharmacy files, patient profiles, charge system files, inventories, control records for radioactive nuclei, and registries of poisons, narcotics, and controlled drugs.
  • Audits, dispenses, and maintain correct records for controlled substances.
  • Participates in reporting ADRs, drug usage interventions, medication errors, incident reports, discrepancies, and consultations as outlined in the policies and procedures.
  • Maintain the guidelines and standards as contained in The Pennsylvania Code Chapter 27. State Board of Pharmacy.
  • Participate in Quality Control and Performance Improvement programs.
  • Manage pharmacy operations, performing administrative duties including decision-making independent of direct management oversight, keeping in mind that state and federal guidelines, patient safety, staff safety, and employer liability should be considered.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all departmental information and the security of the pharmacy area.
  • Order pharmaceutical supplies, medical supplies, and drugs. Maintain stocking, storing, and handling properly.
  • Analyze prescribing trends to monitor patient compliance and to prevent excessive usage or harmful interactions.
  • Plan, implement, and maintain procedures for mixing, packaging, and labeling of pharmaceuticals according to policy and legal requirements, to ensure quality, security, and proper disposal.
  • Offer health promotion and prevention activities, i.e., training people to use devices such as blood pressure or diabetes monitors.
  • Provide exceptional customer service.
  • Participates and attends educational in-services, departmental meetings, and committees as required by KH.
  • Supervise cleaning and disinfection of pharmacy area according to established policies, procedures, or commonly accepted standards of care.
  • Works cooperatively with other personnel in a team effort to accomplish pharmacy and KH objectives. It has an overall positive impact on the work environment and is able to represent the pharmacy positively.

  • Additional duties and tasks are as necessary as assigned.


Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly supervise the pharmacy technicians and other pharmacy staff. Maintain schedule with other pharmacy provider(s).

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited college or school of pharmacy with 2 (two) years of actual pharmacy experience.
  • Valid Pennsylvania Pharmacist license
  • Strong knowledge of pharmaceuticals, drug interactions, and compounding.
  • Must have a history of a good driving record, and current PA driver's license.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with healthcare professionals.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Passion for patient wellness and enjoy providing patient education.
