Description / Position Overview
Nurse Practitioner
This position involves delivering occupational medical services such as acute care, overseeing rehabilitation, and managing injury care for City employees with work-related injuries in a busy occupational health clinic. Working under physician supervision, you will adhere to standard protocols and the Colorado Division of Workers' Compensation Treatment Guidelines. Responsibilities include maintaining prescriptive authority, making necessary referrals to specialists or other related services within the designated medical network, prescribing physical therapy, ordering diagnostic tests, conducting physical exams, including Commercial Driver's License exams adhering to FMCSA Medical Guidelines, and pre-employment drug testing. You will also ensure patient privacy, comply with health and safety regulations, assess employee fitness for duty, and interpret EKGs, spirometry, and hearing exams.

As a Nurse Practitioner, you will:
- Assessment and follow-up of work-related injured workers
- Develop and implement a treatment plan with the patient based on available evidence, clinic protocols, and state Workers' Compensation Treatment Guidelines
- Develop patient education plans and provide appropriate consultation/referrals as needed
- Follow injured employee until maximum medical improvement is determined
- Perform physical exams for Commercial Driver's License and post-offer physicals for potential fire and police recruits and new City hires
- Perform annual physical exams for health surveillance programs
- Performs patient care assessment of health status and diagnosis by obtaining comprehensive health and medical history
- Formulate diagnoses based on history, physical exam, and diagnostic test results
- Maintain up-to-date credentials in the National Registry of Certified Medical Providers
- Serves as a resource for the development of workplace education, policies, practices, and programs for employee health and wellness, disability accommodations, and occupational disease and injury prevention and response
- Maintains accurate medical documentation of patient care and assurance of medical records by documenting all care and treatment on time
- Collaborate with appropriate specialists as needed
