Job Description
Job Title: ECHO Technician - Registered
Job Specialty: Cardiovascular Care
Job Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift: Variable Day Shift, 2:30 PM - 11:00 PM, Monday to Friday
Guaranteed Hours: 40 Hours per Week
Experience: One year of experience in cardiac ultrasound (echocardiography) preferred
License: Currently registered as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or a Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS)
Certifications: BLS (American Heart Association) Required
Must-Have: High School Diploma or G.E.D.; Graduation from an academic program in health science or an accredited program in cardiac ultrasound strongly preferred

Job Description:

- Provide specialized cardiovascular care while ensuring maximum patient safety and comfort.
- Perform and review baseline patient assessments, evaluating patient responses to diagnostic cardiac procedures.
- Be proficient in operating and maintaining all diagnostic and therapeutic equipment as specified by the manufacturer.
- Conduct accurate and thorough echocardiograms as ordered by a physician.
- Execute specialized testing using computer-assisted devices, including TEE, Stress Echo, Pharmacological Stress Echos.
- Be cross-trained to perform EKGs, Treadmills, and Holter monitors as needed.
- Maintain and review equipment to ensure proper function and calibration of machines.
- Participate in CQI, in-services, ongoing education, and attend at least 80% of staff meetings to maintain a high skill level.
- Provide on-call coverage outside standard scheduled hours according to department and/or facility policy.
- Recognize and promptly address unusual results or patient responses by informing the primary health care team.
- Adapt approach based on patient/family understanding of the test procedure.
- Troubleshoot and correct recording instrument malfunctions or unusual patient problems that interfere with recordings.
- Independently prioritize clinical and administrative work and identify process improvements.
- Process patient and department records, ensuring documentation of performed tests according to hospital standards.
- Floating may be required to any location within sixty miles of the original assignment or identified float zone. Responsibilities may include duties outside the original assignment's requirements according to policy.
