This is a shared office with a designated work area. Flexible 8-hour work days Monday - Friday with minimal extended hours or weekend work. Collaborative work environment that allows you to work independently to lead projects as well as work as a team. Summary
Work collaboratively with the Infection Prevention and Control team, frontline staff, and various department leaders to promote safe patient care and safe work practices for our staff.
Job Description
Evaluation of infection control trends, practices, and provide educational programs for employees. Possess a basic understanding and working knowledge of microbiology and epidemiology. Responsibilities include surveillance of health care associated infections and reportable illness, evaluation and reporting of statistical information, consultation of asepsis, disinfection, sterilization, isolation, disease transmission and related issues. Monitor compliance to standards and regulations, strategies, and evidence-based aspects. Evaluate and improve performance of patient outcomes. Assist with research needs and special projects as assigned. Understand or be willing to learn computer programs and applications necessary for data collection and analysis. Possess good interpersonal skills as well as a willingness to seek out new information and knowledge. Able to think critically and problem solve effectively.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required. In lieu of education, leadership may consider an Associate's degree and 5 years of applicable experience.
If degree is in nursing, graduate from a nationally accredited nursing program preferred, including, but not limited to, Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), and National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA).
Minimum of two years experience in clinical, nursing, healthcare safety, infection prevention, accreditation or healthcare management setting required.
Certification in Infection Prevention and Control (CIC) or equivalent preferred. If a licensed registered nurse (RN), currently hold an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where the practice of nursing is occurring and/or possess multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state. Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.
