Supervisor needed for the supervision of CST and Related Services including the planning and coordination of professional development and department meetings.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • New Jersey DOE Supervisor Certificate
  • Child Study Team Experienced Required
  • Successful Teaching Experienced Preferred
  • Knowledge of instructional programs
  • Thorough understanding of state and federal laws, regulations, and policies
  • Knowledge of requirements and responsibilities of service providers
  • Knowledge of 192/193 services and non-public nursing
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Superior organizational skills
  • Experience with staff evaluation


REPORTS TO: Director of Special Services

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provides leadership in the development of the district's special education program; coordinates and supervises related activities.
  • Keeps informed of all legal requirements governing special education, keeps staff informed of legal requirements, and ensures that all requirements under administrative code, state/federal law, and board policy are met.
  • Supervises and coordinates extended school year (ESY) and home instruction for homebound or hospitalized special education pupils.
  • Assumes responsibility for district compliance with regulations regarding school special education programs.
  • Coordinates child team and speech services with instructional programs.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of inservice and training programs.
  • Assists in the preparation and administration of the departmental budget.
  • Assist in the supervision, observation, and evaluation of special education teaching staff, child study team members, paraprofessionals, and therapists.
  • Coordinate the selection, acquisition and distribution of instructional materials, supplies and other teaching aides to teaching staff.
  • Assist with assignment of teachers and paraprofessionals to designated public and non-public locations and with student/teacher schedules.
  • Plan and implement in-service training to teaching staff for improvement of instruction, teaching strategies, and any other assessed needs.
  • Conduct monthly meetings with instructional staff.
  • Participate in state and county special education meetings, as assigned.
  • Assist in the orientation of instructional and non-instructional staff.
  • Provide input in writing grant proposals, applications and state reports.
  • Provide administrative support in district school buildings when needed
  • Coordinate activities to maintain compliance with state mandates regarding staff development and curriculum.
  • Act as a resource person for administrative and teaching staff with respect to record keeping, curriculum implementation, testing, schedules, yearly calendars, lesson plans and additional non-instructional tasks.
  • Prepare internal reports as required.
  • Recruit, interview, and hire teaching and paraprofessional staff for instructional positions in public and non-public schools.
  • Work closely and collaboratively with other departments including Human Resources, the Business Office, public and non-public school administrators.
  • Assist the Director of Special Services, as needed.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.
