The Department of Permitting Services is currently recruiting an to join our outreach program. The Department is seeking an energetic, detail-oriented person with a public relations, marketing, or communications background who is bilingual in Spanish.
The position may be underfilled as an , Grade 18. Once the employee is at full performance and meets the minimum requirements of the position, they are eligible for the non-competitive promotion through the series to the , Grade 21.
What You'll Be Doing
This position provides professional staff support for the department's communications and community outreach activities and is bilingual in Spanish.
The work involves promoting and marketing DPS's programs, services, website, multimedia content, and printed materials. The position is a liaison for the department and will engage with other government agencies, customers, partners and stakeholders, and community associations. Strong organization skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills required. There may be some weekend and evening work involved.

This position will require the employee to travel/drive on occasion within Montgomery County for those assignments performed outside of the office.
Bilingual applicants in the Spanish/English languages are encouraged to apply. The candidate selected for this position will be required to pass an Advanced proficiency English/Spanish language examination assessing the following skills: oral communication, reading comprehension, interpreting skills, written communication AND translating text from Spanish to English language and vice versa.
Minimum Qualifications
Advanced Level bilingual Spanish proficiency is required for this position.
Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree.
Experience: One (1) year of professional administrative experience related to public relations, marketing, journalism, communications or related field.
Substitutions:
EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Additional education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis. EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Additional administrative, business, research and/or clerical experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for year basis.

- Attend off-site events within Montgomery County. Organize outreach displays. Track attendance. Collect customer and attendee feedback.
- Provide information to customers, partners, and stakeholders as needed via in-person, virtually, or telephonically.
- Respond to emails and questions from the public, department partners, and stakeholders.
- Provide information in Spanish (verbal or written) to customers when requested or needed.
- Review the department website and printed materials for accuracy, consistency, and relevance.
- Help provide content for the department newsletters.
- Edit and update documents, promotional material, publications, etc., in English and Spanish.
- Help organize and implement new efforts and ways to provide excellent customer service, internally and externally.
- Other duties as related to this position.
