JOB OVERVIEW:
Perform a variety of accounting and reporting duties related to the operations of the management company as well as other general partnerships and ventures that the Company's principals have an ownership interest. The objective of the position is to ensure that financial accounting, reporting and tax schedules are prepared accurately, completely, and in a timely manner.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Perform bank reconciliations and various treasury functions, including liaising with banks, monitoring cash accounts, managing positive pay, processing wire transfers, and reviewing monthly bank fees
- Perform month-end close calculations and journal entries, including monthly cost allocation entries for overhead and acquisition charges
- Analyze monthly general ledger account activity, journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations of various accounts, including payroll and employee benefit accounting
- Review intercompany transactions to ensure amounts are accurately recorded between related entities
- Review and analyze financial statements for all entities to ensure accuracy and make any necessary adjusting entries
- Prepare monthly cash flow statements following the month-end close and update profit participation calculations as needed
- Maintain spreadsheets to support financial transactions and analyze various general ledger accounts, including balance sheet reconciliations and fixed asset rollforward schedules
- Support accounts payable in the disbursement process via AvidPay, issuance of manual checks, or wire transfers
- Prepare internal audit allocations and billings for various REIT entities
- Monitor pending acquisitions, dispositions, financing, and other major company transactions while maintaining awareness of their accounting impact
- File annual business property tax statements for all KBS office locations
- Assist in the preparation of audit work papers for interim and year-end audits with external auditors
- Assist in preparing various tax schedules, including quarterly tax projections for multiple entities
- Prepare annual insurance policy renewals and gather required documentation requested by the broker
- Perform miscellaneous tasks and projects as assigned. The duties listed above are subject to change at management's discretion
- Attend training seminars and webcasts to stay current on updates relevant to job duties (e.g., updates to online banking systems, Excel training, etc.)
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certifications:
- BA/BS in Accounting required.
- 3+ years of experience with significant accounting responsibilities.
- CPA license or public accounting experience in auditing or tax a plus.
SKILLS:
- Strong analytical skills and able to demonstrate a "can-do" attitude.
- Detail-oriented and ability to work independently.
- Self-starter with solid organizational skills.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and able to reprioritize projects when necessary.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- MS Excel proficiency. Advanced knowledge in Excel using pivot tables and macros a plus.
- Experience in MRI accounting software a plus.
- Partnership or Real Estate accounting experience a plus.
