You will develop and manage financial analysis procedure, expense allocation tools, conduct annual expense study, as well as identify and prioritize recommended actions to meet organization objectives. In addition, you will support various strategic initiatives to drive business development and profitability.

Who we need
The Director, FP&A will be accountable to the overall responsibility of planning, budgeting, monitoring, and evaluating company performance. You will develop and manage financial analysis procedure, expense allocation tools, conduct annual expense study, as well as identify and prioritize recommended actions to meet organization objectives. In addition, you will support various strategic initiatives to drive business development and profitability.
What you will do
- Lead the financial planning and budgeting process, develop, and maintain financial forecasting model and variance analysis;
- Provide the decision support to management including capital budgeting for new products and initiatives, investment analysis, analytics, benchmarking of initiatives, cash flow modeling comma and evaluating;
- Manage Canada IFRS 17 expense allocation model and work closely with Securian FP&A team to ensure Canada PA PM model works properly;
- Collaborate with the actuarial team and various departments on managing company annual expense study, and also work closely with expense accounting and an AP team to support company expense management;
- Drive the preparation of financial reports to meet IFRS 17 management reporting and regulatory reporting requirements;
- Contribute to improve targeted inefficiencies, with a focus on utilizing technology where possible to drive our business forward;
- Actively participate in strategic initiative projects and support ad hoc requests as needed or assigned;
- Responsibly challenge the status quo to achieve a business culture dedicated to continuous improvement and best practice;
- Regularly and consistently encourage and inspire a high level of performance;
- Keep abreast of industry trends, developments, and technology.
What you will bring
- The education. FSA/FCIA/CPA designation;
- The experience. 10+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience, including a solid understanding of insurance accounting, financial planning, and forecasting. Management experience and proven expertise in managing & developing teams. Experience presenting to and adapting messaging and presentations for executive leadership and the Board of Directors;
- The knowledge. Knowledge of IFRS17 (considered as an asset);
- The skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate and present effectively. Collaboration and Influence, facilitating discussions that enable independent collaboration while shaping consensus, partnering with key decision-makers across the company, and being open to alternative views and ideas. Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
