How you'll make an impact
The Gallagher Benefit Services Risk & Compliance Operations Leader is responsible for leading the professional standards and risk management programs across Gallagher Benefit Services (GBS) on a global basis. In this role, you will work with business lines, country leadership, legal, technology, and other functional areas to develop and enhance risk mitigation strategies, professional standards, assurance reviews, and merger integration priorities that mitigate risk and promote compliance with corporate and divisional policies.
The Head of Global Risk & Compliance Operations is also responsible for improving the effectiveness and efficiency of the Division's risk management and resiliency functions. In doing so, you will ensure that GBS leadership properly evaluates and fully comprehends risks impacting the business, identifies appropriate mitigating actions, and presents emerging risk areas to business. Further, you will lead a global team who is responsible for conducting risk-based second line assurance reviews to confirm compliance with operating and professional standards and ensure risks are mitigated through the action planning process.

How you'll make an impact
The Gallagher Benefit Services Risk & Compliance Operations Leader is responsible for leading the professional standards and risk management programs across Gallagher Benefit Services (GBS) on a global basis. Risk Management
- Maintain the GBS Risk Register and reconcile AJG risk areas against division-specific risks.
- Facilitate GBS global risk management meetings to provide a forum for business leaders to escalate and evaluate risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Serve as an escalation point to resolve complex matters involving business compliance matters as directed by Legal, Finance, Operations, or other areas.
- Represent the division at risk, privacy, and compliance meetings, serving as a liaison with AJG internal audit and enterprise risk functions.
Standards of Excellence
- Leading a global team of professional standards and risk professionals and working with compliance counsel, you are responsible for overseeing professional and operating policies and standards manuals that exist for each business line.
- Complete an annual risk assessment for each business line globally to ensure professional and operating standards are current and relevant to the business, making and communicating updates as required.
- Develop new professional standards based on changes in the law or corporate (AJG) policy changes, ensuring standards are accurate, relevant, and link to client value and client service excellence.
- Evaluate resolved E&O and regulatory incidents to determine root cause and how widespread a given risk is; propose development of new policies, standards, or processes to mitigate risk recurrence and protect against client dissatisfaction.
- Assess incoming businesses acquired through mergers and acquisitions to assess risk and ensure integration plans appropriately address risk.
- Serve as an escalation point for insurance licensing compliance gaps and collaborates with the National Licensing Center shared service and compliance counsel to support remediation efforts.
Resiliency
- Oversee divisional business resiliency and crisis management functions, collaborating with AJG crisis management and business resiliency teams
- Confirm divisional policy and procedures align with overarching AJG best practices and processes.
Training and Awareness
- Oversee and continuously improve the professional standards training program that adequately conveys the intent behind the professional standards to Gallagher teams (sales and service), and helps teams articulate Gallagher's value proposition as related to ethics, disclosure, and transparency, to help drive growth and client retention.
- Ensure incoming mergers receive training and professional standards guidance as part of merger integration plans, working closely with the GBS Integration Management Office and supporting resources to close gaps.
Assurance
- Lead the professional standards internal audit program, effectively evaluating and uncovering items that pose compliance and client retention risks to the organization, as well as drives continuous improvement in service and operations across business lines.
- Oversee the merger integration assurance framework, confirming incoming merger partners are adopting professional standards, and remediating action plans.
- Drive automation and efficiency where possible throughout the professional standards fulfillment and audit processes, leveraging available tools and systems so that professional standards integrate into business processes.

Required
- Bachelor's degree
- 10+ years of risk management experience within the insurance industry, with specific experience in employee benefits.
- 10+ years of program management experience
- Experience working in acquisitive environments, familiarity with due diligence and merger integration processes.
- Familiarity with privacy regulations such as HIPAA, GDPR; Financial and Retirement related regulations to include ERISA, FINRA, and SEC rules; and benefits legislation including ACA, Medicare, COBRA, benefits administration-related laws and best practices.
- Experience and knowledge of change management, organizational development, profit maximization, productivity and efficiency enhancement.
- Strong business acumen; effectively partners with Legal, HR, Operations and Finance
- Ability to leverage business acumen and awareness of key measures of business success for mergers, acquisitions, and the company's strategic plan.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with diverse groups through all levels of the organization.
- Ability to effectively identify key business risks related to prospective merger partners and other areas of the business.
- Champion the business case for change to a business audience, then plan and execute solutions that are of recognizable value to the business.
- Partner with cross-functional business teams to identify fundamental business drivers and risks to those drivers, and translate them into modeling parameters.
