Description:

The External Reporting groups responsibilities include the preparation and filing of the DTE Energy Form 10-Ks, Form 10-Qs, and Form 11-Ks with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Also handles preparation and submission of annual and quarterly regulatory filings to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and the Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC).

Key Accountabilities
Assists with implementation of new accounting pronouncements and accounting research related to financial statement presentation and disclosures
Works with and provides analysis to external auditors on emerging accounting issues and reporting matters
Supports identification of process improvements and assists with implementation
Provides accounting guidance on accounting related matters
Research current and emerging accounting issues and implements related accounting policies and procedures
Assists with compliance with GAAP and regulatory accounting
Prepares accounting analysis and whitepapers
Analyzes business transactions and proposes accounting treatment with supervision
Provides information for the preparation of external financial reports in compliance with SEC and other regulatory reporting requirements

Required Skills & Experience

experience working in public accounting (example coming from the big 4 etc.)
experience working as an Accountant with experience in auditing, financial accounting and/or financial reporting
Bachelors degree in accounting, finance or business-related field and five years of experience in auditing, financial accounting and/or financial reporting
Strong excel experience

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

CPA
Workiva software experience
