ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Lead Mechanical Design Engineer here at Honeywell Aerospace Technologies, you will be a key contributor to the design, development, and sustainment of cutting-edge navigation and sensor solutions for a variety of applications. Your experience as a Mechanical Engineer will ensure the delivery of innovative and high-performance mechanical designs. You will report directly to our Mechanical Engineering Manager, and you will work out of our Clearwater, FL location on a Hybrid (3+ on-site) work schedule.

In this role, you will be critical in the mechanical design process, ensuring the delivery of high-quality and reliable navigation and sensor products. Your responsibilities will include the mechanical design and drafting of our navigation and sensor products using CREO Parametric. You will also conduct Finite Element Analysis to validate designs, performing thermal and structural analysis to optimize product performance using NX Simcenter. Finally, you will support test and production to ensure the timely resolution of issues to deliver product on schedule.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Utilize CREO Parametric software for 3D modeling, design, and drafting of Printed Board Assemblies, mechanical enclosures, and assemblies.
Conduct Finite Element Analysis (thermal and structural) using NX Simcenter to ensure adequate electronics packaging and Printed Board Assembly performance.
Conduct fatigue analyses (vibration and thermally-induced) using Ansys Sherlock and/or CALCE SARA
Support production and test to help resolve issues (e.g., MRB, RCCA, etc).
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define mechanical requirements and specifications.
Design, develop, and analyze complex navigation and sensor components and assemblies.
Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies in mechanical design, Printed Board Assembly design, and electronics packaging.
U.S. PERSON REQUIREMENTS

Due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a U.S. Person, which is defined as, a U.S. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status.

YOU MUST HAVE
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics
15 years+ of experience in mechanical design and development, with a particular focus on Space Electronics.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
Strong communication and collaboration abilities

WE VALUE
Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field
Experience with other CAD software (AutoCAD, NX) and design tools
Proficiency with ASME Y14.100 and Y14.100
Proficiency with Finite Element Analysis principles
Familiarity with electronics design and analysis for thermal and vibration environments
Knowledge of industry standards and best practices in mechanical design
Experience with product testing and validation
Knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes
Knowledge of Fiber Optic Gyro (FOG) technology
Experience with design of radiation hardened electronics systems
