Job Summary

The Senior Accountant at Tellus Equipment Solutions, LLC. analyzes information, completes John Deere Statement balance sheet reconciliations, maintains complete and accurate records across property, sales and use tax, and develops and maintains Targit reporting. This role will report directly to the Accounting Supervisor and might be responsible for the supervision of some of the duties performed by Experienced Staff Accountants and/or Entry Staff Accountants.

Job Description
  • This is the position that is tasked with understanding all aspects of the Monthly Deere Statement and performing and/or overseeing and reviewing the performance by others of all accounting and reconciliation-related activities that relate to the Statement
  • Maintain and record routine accounting transactions such as ledgers, journals, receipts, and other transactional information in CDK and the John Deere system
  • Assist the accounting department in daily, monthly, and annual activities, including generating financial reports, calculating tax liabilities and processing taxes, preparing reconciliations, assisting with audits, and resolving discrepancies
  • Download, reconcile, and record payroll and benefits information from payroll provider (ADP) to the general ledger (CDK), including preparation and posting of month-end accruals
  • Perform the monthly reconciliations of the largest and most complicated general ledger accounts, to include Floor Plan, Whole Goods Inventory, Parts Inventory, WIP, and several Clearing Accounts
  • Ensure all monthly tax returns are completed and paid in a timely manner (sales and use, heavy equipment, motor vehicle, heavy diesel, and battery)
  • Perform compliance work required for property taxes and franchise taxes
  • Along with the Accounting Supervisor, interface with Targit (our data analytics and financial reporting add-on to CDK) to design accurate financial statement presentations and insightful analytics reports
  • Advise staff regarding the handling of non-routine reporting transactions
  • Prepare ad hoc reports for the Controller and executive team
  • Participate in ongoing educational opportunities - industry trends, developments, current financial legislation, and company policies and procedures
  • Proactively settle account reconciliations as assigned by supervisor
  • Provide audit support as needed


Skills, Competencies, and Education
  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field; MBA or CPA preferred
  • 5-9 years of professional accounting experience
  • Experience implementing sound decisions when faced with multi-faceted problems
  • Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Possess excellent organizational, communication, and analytical skills with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced and fluid environment
  • Strong math and research skills
  • Organized and detail-oriented with the ability to analyze data accurately and efficiently
