Job Description

The Quality Engineer III originates and develop designs of structures and devices, apply physical and chemical theories and research techniques in the investigation and solution of complicated problems relating to engineering design, materials, and processes and design and develop research and testing equipment.

This position will serve the Division Quality Team located in Montgomery, AL or Roswell, GA.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies problems, prioritize them, and put in practice chronic problem-solving efforts using methodologies, such as A3, 8D and DMAIC.
  • Ensures the quality of new products throughout the development and launch process.
  • Makes theoretical and experimental investigations of designs and processes and formulate the basic method of approach to the solution of problems which are fundamentally of an indeterminate nature.
  • Partner with sales, product & engineering to ensure that customer's needs are met.
  • Prioritize and drive resolution for escalated customer issues.
  • Provide feedback to product and engineering teams on product gaps and opportunities for improvement.
  • Leverage current toolsets and cross functional team members to creatively identify and resolve customer technical issues.
  • Cooperates with other groups regarding the application of testing or research results, use of machines, materials, or processes.
  • Represents company to outside representatives.
  • Plans, designs, and conducts product, process, and system audits.
  • Participate in Cost Improvement Project initiatives as a part of the core team.
  • Accurately interprets test data and results and write formal reports covering test conditions, procedures, results, conclusions, and recommendations to management.
  • Determines standard methods applicable to a problem or test and devise special means of empirically testing the problem assigned.
  • Plans, analyzes, and executes assigned research or development projects. Carry on complicated theoretical analysis of a particular development assignment applying physical, chemical, and mathematical theory to design, material, and process problems and to the design and development of research and testing equipment.
  • Directs the activities of other engineers who may be assigned to assist in the planning, analysis and execution of an assigned research or development project.
  • Plans, directs, and evaluates field test programs for new or revised products.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of prior relevant experience.
  • Black Belt in six Sigma Methodology or equivalent experience
  • Preferred Certified Quality Engineer (CQE)
  • Preferred ASQ Quality Engineering Certification
  • Knowledge and experience in current Quality Assurance procedures and systems.
  • Knowledge and experience in one or more of following specialties:
    • Welding Engineering
    • Dimensional Control & Metrology
    • PCB & Controls Engineering
  • Must have the ability to interact and work in a factory floor environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficient computer skills and in-depth knowledge of relevant software such as MS Office Suite.
  • Experience in design and test laboratory environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with others is a matrix team environment.
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment with minimum errors and excellent attention to detail.
  • Domestic and International travel required.
