M365 Engineer

The Department of Administration's Office of Technology and Information Services is the state's central provider of IT services to state government agencies. We are growing and now is a great time to join State Government! We are seeking a talented M365 Engineer to join our team. In this role under limited supervision, the employee provides support for the Office 365 (O365) environment. Work to ensure cloud identities are secured and that vendor best practices are being followed when implementing new modules. Establish documentation and procedures that will be used by both tier 1 and tier 2 support staff to support the various Office 365 modules. Responsibilities of the M365 Engineer:
  • Perform role of O365 Administrator responsible for managing user accounts and licenses. This includes creating new user accounts, assigning licenses, setting up permissions, and handling password resets. Ensure that users have the necessary access to O365 services.
  • Maintain the security and compliance of the O365 environment including the configuration of security settings, such as multi-factor authentication (MFA), data loss prevention (DLP) policies, and conditional access policies.
  • Monitor for potential security threats and ensure that the organization complies with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Work closely with Exchange administrators and the Active Directory administrators to learn the account provisioning process. Automate any repetitive functions and secure any automation scripts.
  • Assist with the management of third-party email filtering tools, running message traces, blocking and releasing mail in IronScales or ProofPoint, and assisting with mail flow issues and investigations.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in computer science or related field and experience in computer system development and modification in either an on-premises, cloud-based, or hybrid environment. Relevant experience may substitute for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.
Additional Requirements:
  • Knowledge of fundamental computing and networking methodologies and technologies.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and technical skills. Working knowledge of management of cloud hosted solutions including Office 365 and Azure AAD.
  • Candidate must possess working knowledge of SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams and Exchange as well as have a strong understanding of the Power Platform.
  • Candidate must be able to create and debug automation scripts in various languages including basic batch scripts, PowerShell, python, Power BI, Power Query and TSQL.
  • Knowledge in CJIS Certification is a requirement.
  • Due to the technical nature of this position, it is designated as Essential Personnel - The employee is required to be In the office as needed during Any emergency or weather related event.
