Description

The Director of Enterprise Application is responsible for overseeing the selection, implementation, maintenance, and strategic direction of all campus-wide enterprise applications, encompassing the student information systems, financial/HR system, and other critical platforms pertaining to those systems. This role ensures alignment with the university's academic and administrative needs while also aligning with the Office of Information Technology Strategic Plan. The director oversees and provides leadership to a team of IT professionals, including application programmers, project coordinators, database administrators, system administrators, and consultants. Additionally, the director collaborates closely with campus stakeholders to ensure that technology and resources are aligned with institutional needs. Key responsibilities include directing and evaluating large application projects and programs, ensuring the successful completion of major strategic initiatives, and managing internal and external resources to achieve the goals outlined in the SIU IMAGiNE 2030 Strategic Plan. The director presents project proposals to university stakeholders, facilitates dialogue throughout the evaluation and implementation process, and fosters positive and productive relationships with both internal and external partners. Additionally, the director manages assigned personnel and performs other related duties as needed.

The target salary offer for this position is $$8,333.00 - $10,417.00 monthly, with a full pay range for this position of $100,000 - $125,000 annually. Final salary offer will be determined by a thorough assessment of available market data, internal salary equity, candidate experience and qualifications, and budget constraints.
Examples of Duties

Strategy & Planning
  • Align IT application strategies with both academic and administrative objectives to support student success and operational efficiency.
  • Oversee the assessment of the technical and business viability of the enterprise application portfolio, including critical systems such as the student information system, financial/HR system, and related platforms.
  • Develop and implement strategic application and cloud initiatives.
  • Establish guiding principles for modern application development practices.
  • Identify and evaluate potential risks in proposed projects.
  • Develop, implement, and enforce policies and standards for application management.
  • Create and communicate strategies for application integration and optimization. Acquisition & Deployment
  • Assess and approve IT application purchases to ensure alignment with strategic goals.
  • Oversee the integration and configuration of new applications.
  • Deploy and manage cloud-based solutions and services.
  • Ensure the seamless implementation of new applications and systems.
  • Coordinate with vendors and external partners for application deployment.
  • Manage the budget and track costs associated with application projects. Operational Management
  • Lead a team of IT application programmers, project coordinators, database administrators, system administrators, and consultants.
  • Direct and evaluate large application projects and programs.
  • Maintain and support business productivity applications.
  • Oversee the training and development of staff on new applications.
  • Monitor and measure the performance of applications and systems.
  • Ensure the successful completion of major strategic initiatives and projects.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage day-to-day operations and resolve any issues related to applications.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree, preferably in Management, Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field by date of hire.
Seven (7) years project management experience.
Seven (7) years or more of progressive experience in Information Technology management position
Five (5) years ERP management experience
One (1) year of strategic planning experience in an IT environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree preferably in Information Systems, MBA, or relevant advanced degree
Leadership experience in Higher Education
Progressive leadership experience in identifying and implementing enterprise application solutions
PMP Certification
