How You Can Join Us

PEAKE is looking for an experienced Lead Network Infrastructure Engineer to design, implement, and provide technical guidance to our network infrastructure team, with a strong emphasis on the physical layer to support onsite work in central California.

The ideal candidate will possess expertise in structured cabling systems, network hardware, and design documentation, ensuring the highest level of performance and reliability for our network operations. (BICSI certification is preferred)

The engineer will also provide engineering and technical support services related to the design, test, and integration of advanced technology solutions to resolve obsolescence issues, improve system capabilities, performance, reliability, maintainability, and availability. The role will specifically support microelectronics complex systems at the customer site.

Work Location and Schedule: This role requires 100% travel and follows a rotating schedule: three weeks onsite, followed by time-off at home to maintain a healthy work-life balance.

Perks: Per diem + all expenses for onsite accommodations and travel associated with the rotating schedule will be fully covered

Clearance: A Secret clearance is required for this role.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, implement, and manage network infrastructure, focusing on the physical layer (cabling, racks, power, cooling, and connectivity).
  • Read, interpret, and modify network design and infrastructure documentation, including blueprints/schematics and CAD.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices (e.g., BICSI, TIA/EIA, IEEE, NEC).
  • Oversee the kitting and testing of fiber optics, copper cabling, and patch panels.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to junior installation teams.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex network infrastructure issues at the physical layer.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, facilities, and contractors, to support network deployments and upgrades.
  • Support engineering, production, integration, and installation tasks related to test & evaluation systems, networking, data collection and distribution, telemetry systems, and space position and timing systems at designated locations.

What You'll Need to Succeed
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 7+ years of experience in network infrastructure engineering, with a focus on the physical layer.
  • Strong knowledge of structured cabling standards, fiber optics, and copper cabling best practices.
  • Ability to read, modify, and create detailed network design documents (AutoCAD, Visio, or similar tools).
  • Hands-on experience with network hardware, including switches, routers, patch panels, and racks.
  • Familiarity with power and cooling considerations for network infrastructure.
  • Experience working in data centers, enterprise environments, or large-scale network deployments.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with network connectivity, cabling, and physical infrastructure issues.
  • BICSI RCDD, RTPM, or equivalent certification is preferred.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry standards (BICSI, TIA/EIA, IEEE, NEC).
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.

Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with low-voltage cabling installations and testing methodologies.
  • Familiarity with network monitoring tools for infrastructure performance analysis.
  • Knowledge of wireless network deployments and related physical infrastructure.
  • Understanding of fiber optic splicing and testing techniques.
