Function

The Licensed Specialist in School Psychology assists with the individual comprehensive educational assessment of children referred for learning and/or behavior problems, with particular emphasis on the diagnosis of efficient approaches to learning tasks, behavioral strategies, and recommendations for remediation. Will provide assistance to campuses and parents regarding administrative and instructional issues necessary to maintain an appropriate educational program for students. Will also assist in staffing cooperatively with other special education staff, the placement of disabled students into non-home special education programs.

Coordinator for Psychological Services

Reponsibilities:

Instructional Management.
  • Administers and interprets psychological tests.
  • Prepares comprehensive written reports relating test results to the educational setting.
  • Integrates behavioral data into classroom management strategy recommendations.
  • Integrates material/instructional resource data into classroom strategy recommendations.
  • Utilizes both formal and informal techniques to assess skills.
  • Utilizes knowledge of reading and math curriculum and a wide variety of materials and strategies to develop Individualized Education Programs (EPs).
  • Participates in case staffings, seeks consultative assistance from coordinator, consultant, and peers.
  • Responsible for all ARDs except those assigned to secondary chairpersons or assigned to the secondary re-evaluation by ARD team.
  • Works with campus staffs to plan, implement, monitor, and evaluate special education instructional programs.
  • Provides and coordinates instructional resources and materials programmatically to campus special education staffs to support instructional goals.
  • Recommends appropriate placement of special education students for instructional purposes at the campus and District levels.
  • Recommends effective classroom strategies and techniques to improve instruction.

  • Conducts parent/guardian conferences for interpretation of test data/discussion of recommendations.

  • Pursues communication with non-school agencies/professional to enhance database.
  • Serves as liaison with outside agencies/professionals to enhance transitional services.

  • Assumes personal responsibility for continuing professional growth/employee development.
  • Accepts and analyzes constructive criticism in a professional manner.

Miscellaneous.
  • Shares multidisciplinary team assessment responsibilities effectively.

  • Demonstrates comprehensive understanding of federal/state/local appraisal guidelines.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Mental/Physical Demands and Environment Factors:
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively within a special education setting; frequently involving
  • sensitive assessment and placement issues.
  • Frequent district-wide and travel; transporting of test kits and materials to test sites.

Salary: ADMN/205: Salary range is $308.97 to $444.61 daily (individual salary calculation is based on applicable experience)
