Organization's Summary Statement:
The University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) seeks a full-time, twelve-month, tenure track faculty position beginning July 1, 2025. UMES is located in rural Maryland and is one of America's most beautiful campuses. Rank will be determined based on qualifications and experience.

The School of Pharmacy and Health Professions currently consists of the following departments: Exercise Science, Physical Therapy, Physician Assistant, and Rehabilitation Services.
Responsibilities:
Provide didactic lectures to PharmD students in various areas of Medicinal
Chemistry and conduct pharmaceutic laboratory courses.
Teach and mentor graduate students in the School's M.S and Ph.D.
graduate
program in Pharmaceutical Sciences.
Develop an independent research program and obtain extramural funding.
Serve on School and University committees.
Perform research in chemistry, drug design, chemical synthesis, biological
evaluation, structure-activity relationship (SAR) analysis, toxicity testing,
etc. The successful candidate will have active collaboration with other
scientists, working closely with colleagues to advance the sciences.
Participate actively in National Professional organizations and in advancing
the service missions of the School and University to meet community
needs.
Conduct robust literature review and stay current, keeping up to date with
the latest advancements in medicinal chemistry and related fields.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
PharmD or Ph.D. in broad definition of Chemistry, Biology, and/or equivalent
degree such as Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Structural Biology,
Bioinformatics, Compactional Biology, Neuroscience, etc.
Additional consideration will be given to applicants with a pharmacy
background.
A commitment to teaching excellence and encouraging student
engagement in the learning process.
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Strong communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, and team
building skills.
Efficient organization and planning skills.
Ability to develop independent research.
Ability to publish original research manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals.
Ability to cooperate and coordinate with others in team-taught courses
Ability to develop an extramurally fundable program of scholarly activity
Physical Demands:
May require extended periods of standing, bending, sitting at desk.
May require lifting up to 25 lbs.
Requires communication with a variety of constituents externally and
internally.
Requires operation of a variety of office equipment.
Preferences:
Teaching and postdoctoral research experience
Preference will be given to candidates with prior success in federal funding
from NIH
