- Create and update detailed equipment layout drawings, including rack elevations and room layouts.
- Develop precise equipment installation and cabling diagrams.
- Conduct equipment power calculations and balance power supply loads accordingly.
- Establish comprehensive IP addressing schemes, network layouts, and equipment addressing plans.
- Coordinate closely with project managers, network specialists, and field engineers to create thorough testing plans for installations, system upgrades, migrations, and system transitions.
- Design fiber optic systems, wide-area networks (WAN), and local-area networks (LAN), including performing optical loss calculations.
- Design systems, identify suitable products, and develop customized solutions aligned with client needs, request for proposals (RFPs), specifications, or provided plans.
- Evaluate and select cost-effective equipment manufacturers that meet or exceed project requirements.
- Apply value engineering techniques to optimize selected equipment and solutions.
- Work collaboratively with manufacturers, distributors, and internal engineering teams to prepare comprehensive bills of materials supporting finalized designs.
- Conduct technical meetings with client IT staff to clarify and validate network and server requirements.
- Provide pre-sales support to the sales team regarding scope determination, installation methodologies, and equipment specifications.
- Assist field engineers with resolving technical challenges and integrating software solutions.
- Review and validate project documentation, including scope of work, performance specs, and schematic drawings, to ensure accurate project execution.
- Partner with field engineering teams to configure and test equipment in lab environments before deployment.
- Research and propose technology-driven solutions tailored to unique client requirements.
- Develop detailed equipment configuration spreadsheets and provisioning data.
- Create and manage technical training resources and maintain an organized system configuration database.
- Review design documentation and project submittals, ensuring compliance with consultant-driven revisions.
- Support project teams in inventory management and verification of equipment assemblies against design documents.
- Coordinate procurement activities and manage installation logistics as needed.
- Attend periodic on-site meetings to facilitate clear communication between clients and the project team.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- 3-5 years of experience in network infrastructure design, engineering, and project execution.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Skilled in AutoCAD and Microsoft Visio.
- Practical experience in designing and installing network infrastructure and technology equipment.
- Knowledgeable in LAN/WAN networking, Windows Server environments, and virtualized platforms.
- Familiarity with radio frequency (RF) and wireless communication solutions.
- Experience with low-voltage security systems, power distribution, or related systems.
- Fundamental networking knowledge equivalent to Associate-level networking certification.
- Valid driver's license.
- Self-driven professional comfortable working in collaborative, dynamic team settings.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information discreetly.
- Demonstrated capability to analyze details, interpret technical documents, and apply sound judgment to decision-making.
