Job Duration & Employment Terms:
This position is for an anticipated 18-month assignment, with employment beginning April 28, 2025 and ending October 30, 2026 with the possibility of extension or early termination based on business needs, funding, and performance. Employment is at-will; however, the company requests a 30-day notice period should either party choose to end the assignment, except in cases where immediate termination is required by law or for cause.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This role works to elevate employee engagement by championing and supporting all aspects of the PODS safety and health program. This includes:
- Serving as the regional safety and fleet compliance expert
- Performing investigations of incidents and near misses, including the writing of reports, and sharing of findings and best practices with appropriate work groups across the organization
- Providing technical guidance to employees in regards to health and safety issues
- Developing and assisting in the implementation of safe work practices and procedures based upon on-site observations, data sampling, telematics and regulatory compliance
- Upholding the safety compliance standards inherent in PODS operating and field procedures related to safe work responsibilities
- Promoting and supporting a culture of total safety
- Diligently reviewing safety regulations, PODS safety requirements, and industry best practices to ensure compliance and reduce workplace risks
- Works in both the office and field, under various conditions and/or environments.
- Develop and promote a culture that delivers safe workers and a safe work place

o Develop and implement local safety-meeting/training topics
- Oversee accident prevention activities as directed or needed by the regional operations business unit
o Performs Risk Assessments of PODS locations within assigned region
o Assist with the development and implementation of Safety Inspection Programs
- Act as the occupational and fleet safety technical resource/resident expert with respect to operational safety and DOT related issues
o Attend industry events to promote continuous learning and installation of best practices
o Recommend and coordinate regional training with outside industry experts as required
- Direct and insure safety orientation and fields safety training are done in a timely and professional manner.
o Regional Safety Onboarding Program
o Track New Hire Safety Training Milestones
o Track DOT & OSHA training compliance utilizing PODS software systems
- Review and audit new hire training and employee learning outcomes
o New hire follow-up process (30-60-90-180 days)
o Validate on the job training activities through employee work evaluation and appropriate documentation
o Update safety training programs as required
- Oversee timely accident response and investigations
o Completion of SENF (Serious Event Notifications)
o Completion of PODS Accident Report
o Completion of After Incident Reviews/Root Cause Analysis
o Create Lesson/Learned & Safety Flash Bulletins
o Responsible for tracking, monitoring accidents/ incidents and reporting the events to PODS Corporate Safety & Risk Management
o Responsible for ensuring corrective actions are implemented, verified and validated
- Oversee compliance of all D.O.T. initiatives
o Compliance (D/A, DQ, Contractor Management/Onboarding)
o DOT DQ File Process
o Monitor FMCSA CSA scores for region's CDL drivers
o Conduct annual CDL Driver Safety Reviews
- Implement regional safety improvement process
o Oversee regional safety inspections & recordkeeping (collect data and aggregate)
o Conduct safety observations within areas of BU (highlighting areas for improvement)
o Conduct contractor safety reviews/observations (safety performance, inspection reviews, etc.)
- Regularly communicate trending of safety and compliance performance for operating areas
- Responsible for maintenance of safety, training and accident records within the region
o Oversee the maintenance and retention of all safety and compliance data, files, records and databases
- Make internal and external customer service a top priority
o Provide regional assistance for all safety concerns
o Respond to employee safety hotline, safety emails and requests for assistance within a timely manner
- Attend operational leadership meetings, staff meetings, and monthly safety meetings
o Collect, develop and distribute safety, training and other relevant statistics to operational leadership
- Development of and strengthening of relationships with all local, state and Federal agencies with responsibility for safety, training and emergency response.
- Assist Operational Leadership in executing safety responsibilities and in making safety efforts successful within the region
- Serve as a member of the Region Safety Committee
- Serve as a corporate safety liaison to ensure safety compliance throughout the operational region
o Coordinate & Communicate with Corporate Safety Director on a regular basis
o Act as a member of the Enterprise Annual Safety Audit Team as required
Up to 50% regional travel is required

Compensation:The anticipated salary range for this position is $110,000.00 to $135,000.00 Annually, depending on experience, skills, and qualifications. Compensation may vary based on location, market conditions, and other business factors.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Education & Experience Requirements
- Minimum of 8 of experience in the Transportation Safety arena
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Director of Safety (CDS), Safety Trained Supervisor (STS) or other relevant safety certifications
- Must be well-versed in DOT, & OSHA regulations
- Familiarity with DOT and MVR Tracking Software
- General knowledge of DOT & OSHA Regulations
- Computer literate and proficient in MS Excel, Word, Power Point, & Outlook
