Janux Therapeutics is seeking a highly motivated Principal Scientist with demonstrated skills in the field of cancer immunology and/or immune cell biology. The incumbent will focus on flow cytometry methods dedicated to gaining in-depth insights into the mechanism of action (MoA) and the potential determinants of response/resistance of Janux's TRACTr and TRACIr programs. This person will mentor or manage more junior members in the immunology team, as well as interact closely with external partners and across functional teams. A successful candidate will have extensive hands-on experience with flow cytometry development and optimization for clinical assets,lead the immunology team and external partners to ensure timelines are met, inspire and develop team members, and be accountable for meeting deliverables.

This position is approximately 30-50% hands-on bench work and requires the effective communication and documentation. The ideal applicant will be collaborative and team-oriented, self-motivated, possess excellent communication and organizational skills, and carry a strong commitment to excellence.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Independently lead the development and execution of flow cytometry assays (CRO or in-house) for Janux clinical assets.
    • Ensure data quality and data integrity. Gather data from multiple sources.
    • Translate development activities into new SOPs. Modifies existing protocols, as needed.
    • Interact closely with internal teams (ie. Pharmacology, Biomarkers, Clinical, and QA) to ensure shared activities are prioritized and deliverables are achieved.
    • Contribute intellectually across teams with clear and concise communication in a way that helps advance our understanding of assets under clinical development.
    • Identify new external vendors and maintain oversight on CRO activities.
    • Review controlled documents and reports.
    • Prepare and present data at relevant meetings.
    • Help manage activities for multiple programs under tight timelines.
    • Proactively identify and troubleshoot bottlenecks in existing workflows, etc. to streamline processes and improve reproducibility.
    • Keep up to date with published literature centered around targets and therapies relevant to Janux programs
    • Develop, coach and mentor junior team members.
    • Other duties as deemed necessary


EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
    • A PhD in a scientific discipline is common with a minimum of 4+ years related experience; or postdoc-experience with 2+ years relevant industry experience; BS with minimum 12+ years; MS with minimum 10+ years' experience. Hands-on experience with development of robust multi-parameter flow cytometry (10+ colors) assays.
    • Proficiency in flow analysis is required (ie. FlowJo, DIVA, FCS Express, CellEngine, or Cytobank).
    • Proficiency in excel, PowerPoint and GraphPad Prism is required.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Experience working with external CROs (due diligence, proposals, oversight, project management, data analyses, and reporting) is preferred.
    • Effective troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
    • Experience with MSD or genomics assays is a plus.
    • Skills to be an effective team player, strong individual contributor, self-motivated, flexible, and able to handle multiple tasks and deliver high-quality results under tight timelines.
    • Strong organizational skills and related diligence with documentation is required.


$145,000 - $170,000 a year

In addition to a competitive base salary ranging from $145,000 to $170,000, we offer stock options, restricted stock units, a stock purchase plan (ESPP) and a target bonus. Janux also provides a comprehensive benefits package for our employees and their families, which includes medical, dental, vision, and supplemental disability insurance.

Please note that the base salary range is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies, internal equity and work location.
