Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineering (EE) Manager to lead our engineering team in the design, development, and implementation of Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) chargers and related products. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in power electronics, grid integration, and vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technology. This role requires leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to drive innovation in fast-paced environments while ensuring compliance with individual OEMs', industry and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Team Management:
  • Lead and mentor a team of electrical engineers in developing EVSE charging solutions.
  • Oversee project timelines, ensuring the team meets design and production milestones.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with software, mechanical, test, and manufacturing teams.
  • Provide technical guidance on circuit design, power electronics, and system integration.

Product Development & Engineering:
  • Drive the design and development of EVSE charging solutions with grid compatibility and V2x capabilities.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards such as UL, IEC, NEC, SAE J1772/J3400, ISO 15118, and OCPP.
  • Design and optimize AC and AC/DC power conversion systems, 2- and 4-quadrant converters, and other energy-efficient topologies.
  • Work with utilities and regulatory bodies to ensure seamless integration with the power grid.
  • Select and validate high-voltage components, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.

Grid Integration:
  • Develop solutions that support grid services such as demand/response, frequency/phase/voltage following, and load balancing.
  • Implement bidirectional charging technologies that enable vehicle-to-grid (V2G) and vehicle-to-home (V2H) applications.
  • Collaborate with utility companies and grid operators to enable smart charging and grid interaction.
  • Integrate smart grid communication protocols, including OpenADR, IEEE 2030.5, and IEC 61850.

Testing & Compliance:
  • Develop and implement testing protocols for product validation and certification.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, utility interconnection rules, and safety standards.
  • Address electrical reliability issues and work towards continuous product improvement.

Innovation & Continuous Improvement:
  • Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in EV charging and grid integration.
  • Lead research and development initiatives to enhance charger performance and cost efficiency.
  • Identify opportunities for design optimizations and next-generation EVSE technology.

Qualifications & Skills:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • 12+ years of experience in electrical engineering, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of power electronics, circuit design, and embedded systems.
  • Experience with high-voltage systems, PCB design, and energy management.
  • Deep understanding of grid infrastructure, utility regulations, and interconnection standards.
  • Hands-on experience with vehicle-to-grid (V2G) and bidirectional charging technology.
  • Familiarity with EVSE communication protocols (OCPP, ISO 15118, Modbus, CAN).
  • Proficiency in simulation tools (SPICE, MATLAB/Simulink) and Altium.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
  • Technical advising adjacent departments (Sales, Prod Mgmt, Test, SWE).
  • Develop and promote the use of electrical safety standards in-house.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in EV charging infrastructure, smart grid technology, or renewable energy solutions.
  • Knowledge of cloud-connected chargers, IoT integrations, and energy management systems.
  • Hands-on experience with compliance testing and certification processes for grid-connected devices.
  • Direct knowledge of EV-internal charging systems and BMS.
