Job Summary

Utilizes the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide safe, therapeutic care. Functions as a member of the interdisciplinary and nursing teams; carries out established nursing procedures and performs related duties as required; performs nursing care for patients with more complex needs with assistance and supervision. Assists with the management of patient care administered by other members of the nursing team.

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of two years of RN experience, including or in addition to one year of Telemetry RN experience
  • Active Registered Nurse licensure in the State of California
  • Active American Heart Association CPR Certification
  • Active American Heart Association ACLS Certification within six months of hire date
  • Successfully pass Telemetry test during onboarding


License/Certification

Department Description

The Adult Inpatient Bridge Unit provides care to a diverse patient population with an emphasis on completing admission orders and admission assessment within 24 hours of the admit order until an inpatient bed is assigned under the appropriate service line to a floor with appropriate RN skill mix. These patients come with a wide range of medical and surgical services in addition to 8 different service lines will be admitting patients to this unit. This unit will have telemetry and continuous pulse oximetry monitoring capability being provided from a centralized monitoring unit.

The exposure to the diverse patient populations will have varied levels of complexity in care that will provide nurses the ability to develop and sharpen keen assessment skills. This small 13-bed unit will be fast paced and highly rewarding with many hands-on learning opportunities daily. Additionally, Nurses on this unit are a highly motivated group of professionals providing outstanding care to the entire patient population being served. Teamwork among nursing staff, as well as physician and nurse collaboration, is critical for this unit to function harmoniously. Professional growth and development are the foundation of the unit culture and philosophy. Adult General and Specialty Surgical Units strongly supports nurses by providing them with the necessary resources and skills to be successful in this extraordinary environment. Nurses keep abreast with the current trends in care through participation in advanced classes and conferences. The Inpatient Medical/Surgical staff also actively participate in several quality improvement projects, innovative research, and community collaborative efforts. Accountable to the PCD ED/PPU/Bridge Unit for overall work performance.
