Job Title: Radiation Therapist
Job Specialty: Oncology Radiation Therapist
Job Duration: 13 weeks
Shift: 8-hour days, possibly late morning to early evening
Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
Experience: Minimum of 1 year
License: Current Oregon Registration as a Radiation Therapist
Certifications:
- ARRT (R) (T) Certification
- AHA BLS certification
Must-Have: Certified Radiation Therapist - ARRT (T), Certified Radiologic Technologist - ARRT (R)
Job Description:
- Accurately deliver the prescribed course of radiation therapy with minimal supervision.
- Fully understand the function of treatment machines/simulators and accessory equipment to use them to their full capabilities.
- Detect unsatisfactory treatment setups that fail to meet objectives.
- Identify when malfunctioning equipment has reached safe limits and cancel further treatments until the issue is resolved.
- Detect any defects or erratic operation of the treatment machine/simulator that might pose a radiation hazard.
- Assist in educating fellow employees by sharing knowledge and theory of the technical aspects of therapy.
- Assist physicians and colleagues in maintaining optimum care and treatment of radiation therapy patients in accordance with established departmental procedures, policies, and standards.
- Responsible for the accurate, complete, and timely application/execution of radiation therapy procedures according to the written prescription and written/verbal instructions of the Radiation Oncologist.
- Provide radiation oncology treatment/services for all age groups.
