PURPOSE:
The Project Manager position will be responsible for overall project management and communication of strategic business projects. This position will be responsible for collaborative work within the Gentex team, including corporate wide projects and customer teams, ensuring clearly defined timelines, deliverables, business risks, ROI and success metrics. This position will oversee all phases of projects, while managing risks and recommending improvements to processes.
The successful candidate is a disciplined professional with good organizational skills and proven experience in the delivery of project management.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Overseeing all aspects of projects from concept development through production and sustainment activates.
Identifying and coordinating appropriate resources, setting deadlines and assigns tasks, determining and meeting project scope,
Managing and communicating project timeline, deliverables, issues, risks, ROI and success metrics.
Ensure projects align to the strategic initiatives defined for the Business. Gather appropriate information from individuals and project team in order to make correct decisions
Complete accurate, high quality documentation of projects. Create and implement project schedules and plans, lead and monitor cross-functional teams to complete projects on time and within budget.
Work with Engineering department to coordinate projects
Continually enhance self understanding of the business processes.
Schedule flexibility to support critical deadlines may be required.
Requirements
EDUCATION AND/OR PROFESSIONAL LICENSE(s):
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field
EXPERIENCE:
Must have at least 5 years of experience in engineering or project management; electrical engineering experience preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Must have experience with Microsoft Project
Proficiency in scope planning/definition, project plan execution and change control processes
Experience with the Stage-Gate Process for New Product Development
Experience with resource planning and schedule/cost control
Understanding of design engineering preferred
POSITION SUPERVISES:
Project Manager requires a self-motivated person working under the guidance and direction of the Director of NPD Program Management.
CONTACT WITH OTHERS:
Internal : Position requires daily contact with members of engineering, production, documentation control, materials, and quality department. Position will have occasional contact with Sales and Marketing and others, as business requires.
External : Occasional contact with auditors, customers, vendors, contractors, consultants, trainers and others as business requires.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL/COMMUNICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee may lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the job may include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The individual must have a high level of comprehension, and a high level of general, verbal, written, and numerical intelligence.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Works majority of the day in a climate controlled environment, with the exception of or otherwise specified, performing work in the warehouse or manufacturing areas which are subject to changes in temperature and/or noise.
TRAVEL:
Limited travel required
LOCATION: Gentex's Carbondale facility is located in Northeastern Pennsylvania in Lackawanna County. Carbondale, PA is about twenty miles north of Scranton, PA, 50 miles south of Binghamton, NY, and about 125 miles from New York City and Philadelphia. The area hosts numerous nearby state parks, nature preserves and local colleges and universities, including The University of Scranton and Marywood University.
