Job Description
The Principal serves as the academic leader of the administrative team within the school. The Principal is responsible for providing strategic direction of curricula, assessment of teaching methods, personnel matters, parental involvement, policies, and procedures. The Principal works closely with the Assistant Principals to lead teachers and all other staff, set goals, and ensure students meet their expected learning outcomes. The Grade Band Principal directs and coordinates educational and administrative activities by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.
Responsibilities
Supervisory Responsibilities: Carries out supervisory responsibilities of assistant principals in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Directly supervises assistant principals who oversee 3000+ students. This is subject to change as the school enrollment changes. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Responsibilities
- Ensures alignment of educational programs to state and local school board standards through evaluation, development, and coordination activities.
- Facilitates action research and aids in the implementation of curriculum resources that meet state standards for core contents.
- Helps articulate the school's mission and vision with the aim of ensuring all stakeholders have a common understanding and are positioned to work cooperatively in order to achieve desired results.
- Utilizes/relies heavily upon communication technologies and practices that most effectively support a predominantly virtual / remote work environment.
- Ensures that the school is meeting the needs of students while complying with local, state, and federal laws regarding special education and other categorical programs.
- Develops and oversees implementation of the school's student achievement plan and works with the academic team to implement the plan.
- Addresses parent and student concerns and issues.
- Coordinates and implements school meetings.
- Demonstrates knowledge of grade band specific content standards and required state assessments.
- Conducts teacher and assistant principal evaluations and observations per state requirements using the TKES and LKES platform.
- Works collaboratively with all assistant principals to ensure optimal operations.
- Facilitates conversations about student growth data and progress towards academic achievement.
- Coordinates and implements grade band meetings.
- Assists in the review and interview process of potential candidates.
- Aids in facilitating personnel matters to include progressive discipline, hiring, and termination.
- Attends all required training by the Georgia Department of Education and GCA.
- Attends all Academic Oversight committee meetings and Board Meetings.
- Submits Board Report.
- Reviews and monitors DDI process as it relates to student growth.
- Coordinates and implements weekly or bi-weekly leadership meetings.
- Creates weekly communication (example - TGIT, TGIF, etc.) for staff members.
- Communicates timely and appropriately with all staff members.
- Attend/participate in weekly District Operation and Academic Meetings.
- Assist/participate in Summer Remediation.
- Implement/oversee Retention and Retention Appeal Meetings.
- Oversees planning and preparation for upcoming school year.
- Assists with projects as directed by Head of School and other District Directors.
- Actively participates in all school leadership team meetings as assigned.
- Assists with state testing and site experience team.
- Attend and participate in monthly Parent University/District Parent Meetings.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Cheif Academic Officer, and/or Superintendent.

Minimum Requirements
- Master's degree in Education, Special Education, or related field of study AND
- Two (2) years' leadership experience AND
- Two (2) years' virtual teaching experience, earning a "Meets" or "Exceeds" expectations in all categories at each year-end review OR
- Equivalent combination of education and experience

- desired Advanced Degree in Education, Special Education, Psychology, or related field of study
- GA PSC Educational Certificate for specific grade band in Math, ELA, SCI, and/or SS
- Leadership Endorsement, Certificate, or Degree
- Clearance Certificate issued by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission required.
- TKES/LKES credentialed
- Clear Fingerprint/Background Check Required

- Pedagogical knowledge content being taught and ability to apply critical thinking

- Work Schedule: This is a Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 4 PM, 5 Days/Week, primarily remote position. The noise level in the office is usually moderate (computers, printers, light foot traffic).
