Position Summary:

The Senior Network Engineer will be a member of RJO's Networking and Telecommunications team. The position will be in Chicago and part of a dynamic, global team. The role requires the Network Engineer to have a solid understanding of RJO's global network and be able to diagnose and respond to issues as they arise. The role will also require the ability to manage the monitoring and reporting services across network, the dissemination of information based on monitoring and reporting, and the ability to address any identified issues.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Troubleshoot, resolve, and document issues within the RJO network in a timely manner.
• Document, implement and validate configurations while providing a highly reliable network with minimal downtime.
• Maximize network performance through design and configuration of monitoring tools; troubleshooting network problems and outages; scheduling upgrades; collaborating with other IT resources on network optimization.
• Work closely with the Information Security team to secure the network by establishing and enforcing policies and defining and monitoring access.
• Report network operational status by gathering and prioritizing information and managing projects.
• Configure Firewalls, VPN Concentrators and Security appliances for access to vital business applications.
• Maintain and configure complex switching environments.
• Maintain and configure complex wireless networking that supports open or secured access and the ability to support voice and video applications.
• Maintain a thorough understanding of Local and Wide Area Network and security architectures.
• Assist in the design of multi-server environments including IP address schemes, DNS, and hierarchical network design.
• Maintaining multi-site network operations and software applications, operating systems, and regular maintenance with both private and public facilities.
• Work alongside Senior Engineers on assigned projects and program components to deliver services in accordance with established objectives.
• Respond to inquiries from staff, administrators, service providers, site personnel and outside vendors to provide technical assistance and support.
• Troubleshoot malfunctions of network hardware and software applications, telephones and security systems to resolve operational issues and restore services.
• Provide 24/7 availability and participate in on-call rotation
• Maintain network documentation
• Accept and monitor fault calls
• Maintain, configure, run and monitor daily back-ups and resilience testing

Qualifications:

• Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems/Technology, or equivalent job experience
• 5+ years LAN/WAN experience, preferably in a Cisco and / or Palo Alto environment.
• Trading or FCM network experience preferred.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
• Occasional travel may be required.
• Strong technical, analytical and interpersonal skills that include the ability to communicate technical topics in a professional manner, both written and verbal.
• Cisco certifications, such as CCNP/CCNDP are preferred.
• Knowledge of VoIP implementation and support.
• Experience maintaining network security via proper configuration of VPN and Firewalls.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task in a small business environment.
• Availability to quickly respond to customer needs for installation, maintenance and equipment malfunctions, including during off hours when needed.
• Demonstrate knowledge and competence of network-related standard concepts, best practices, and operational procedures.
• A natural sense of urgency, initiative, and a positive team player philosophy to be reflected in daily work ethics; ability to handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines.

• Network Management (SolarWinds Orion - NPM, NTA, UDT, IPAM, NCM)
• Cisco Unified Border Element (CUBE) design and maintenance
• QoS

Compensation Package:

• Salary Range: a reasonable estimate for this position is $120,500.00 to $135,000.00 per year. This salary range complies with state transparency laws and reflects variations based on experience, qualifications, and geographical location. Final salary will be determined based on experience, expertise, and office location.
• Other Compensation: this position is eligible for discretionary bonus
