Accountability Objective

This position is responsible to assist the assigned with project workload. The position acts as team leader for assigned projects and performs project management functions to ensure accurate and complete customer satisfaction, while working on product enhancements, modifications and extensions.

Nature and Scope

This position will receive work assignments from the Sr. Project Manager or APQP Engineering/Innovation Manager and is expected to collaborate with members of Project Teams, Product Management, Manufacturing Engineering and the Test Department. At times, this position may be assigned with a dedicated percentage of time to a given Workgroup, during which time, the individual will receive work assignments directly from the Workgroup SPM, Project Engineer, and/or Account Manager, not exceeding the agreed upon percentage allocation.

The incumbent participates on assigned projects to complete project deliverables in a timely and cost-efficient manner to fulfill customer's needs for TriMark's products. The incumbent will act as project leader for assigned segments of projects to anticipate and fulfill the customer's needs for TriMark's products. A project could be any project type supporting TriMark's sales and cost containment planning.

The incumbent will be required to apply sound mechanical engineering techniques and analysis, such as strength of materials, tolerance analysis, systems inertial analysis, etc. to ensure products and applications meet TriMark, customer and regulatory requirements.

Some travel is required within the position. The incumbent may at times make vendor calls, attend trade shows, and visit customers to better understand TriMark's products and usage. This position requires the ability to logically organize and communicate both technical and non-technical information.

A requirement of this position is the ability to interact with individuals throughout the company. Therefore, the incumbent must possess excellent communication skills, including both written and oral. Since this is an office position, the incumbent must conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times to promote good working relationships among supervisors, peers, and if applicable indirect reports.

To be successful in this position, the incumbent must be computer proficient and must fully understand software applications necessary for the successful completion of their job functions. Due to the nature of the work, accuracy and attention to detail is important in this position.

Principal Accountabilities

- Assists with the organization of information, initial design, managing project files, preliminary testing & function review for assigned projects. Shares responsibility for all design aspects of projects to get a project from start to finish.

- Prepare request for quote and communicate with purchasing and/or manufacturing to obtain product cost detail as needed to order what is required to receive product cost for the customer.

- Assists the Marketing Business Associate by providing information on newly released products to support the marketing of the products on TriMark's website.

- Interact with other departments to coordinate customer requirements for the project such as DFMEAs, DVP&Rs, APQP, ISIRs, PPAPs, etc.

- Work in conjunction with the Engineering Technician in the building and assembly of pre-production components for mockups, prototypes, and process validation.

- Perform static stress, inertial, and tolerance analyses on components and assemblies to ensure product performance, function and manufacturability.

- Provide information for or prepare technical publication drawings from engineering sketches, component and assembly drawings and customer drawings to support current and future customers.

- Check and approve reference drawings such as but not limited to surface classification, inertial analysis, installation and technical publications to ensure compliance with applicable engineering standards and within the project parameters, the incumbent will be required to apply mechanical engineering techniques and analysis, such as strength of materials, tolerance analysis, systems inertial analysis, etc.

- Act as the project leader for assigned segments of projects, and complete project deliverables for assigned projects ensuring that projects are completed in a timely and cost-efficient manner. Maintains project file to TriMark's quality standards.

- Research product specifications, finish requirements, and pre-determined standards in order to deliver accurate information for timely and correct product decisions.

- Assist with the preparation of technical literature and installation guides to support the advertising, marketing and sales efforts while minimizing TriMark's liability.

- Perform duties with acceptable drafting standards and engineering specifications.

- Assist in the training of Design Engineer incumbents, as appropriate, to ensure all details of designs and drawings are created in a manner that promotes project success.

- Check and approve new and revised component, assembly drawings and applicable technical publication drawings, this is also to include the checking of models to ensure compliance with applicable engineering and drafting standards & engineering specifications.

- Communicate/interface with the customer's CAD representatives to ensure CAD models and CAD transfers are completed in an efficient manner to ensure project progress within the work group.

- Communicate/interface with customer representatives to ensure project deliverables are met according to schedule.

- Develop test requests for new or modified components or assemblies to ensure product integrity. May also assist or guide the Test Department at times with test fixture design.

- As needed and assigned with Engineering Work Requests, supporting Manufacturing Engineering with mold and fixture design and drawings.

- Assist Product Managers and Engineers in originating ECRs (Engineering Change Requests).

- After initial Engineering Technician drawing check, review and approve ECN drafting assignments for other Engineers.

- Responsible for 5S in personal and teamwork areas, participate in the employee suggestion program and participate in continuous improvement efforts as called upon.

- This position supports the continual improvement and compliance of QMS and EMS.

Education/Experience Requirements

At a minimum, an Associate Degree in Mechanical Design or related field is required. A Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering and/or at least 3 years of engineering experience is preferred.

Working Conditions

The office area is air-conditioned and working conditions are excellent. There is some eyestrain due to the close detail of the work. This area requires normal or corrected vision with no color deficiency, normal depth perception and peripheral vision of 180 degrees. Safety glasses and safety shoes are required whenever office personnel are in the plant production area. The noise level is 50 to 80dB and no hearing protection is required. Hearing protection is encouraged if office personnel will be spending more than brief periods in high-noise areas of the plant.
