Deli Star is seeking a driven and results-oriented Director of Business Development - Foodservice to lead our efforts in expanding our customer base and driving revenue growth within the foodservice industry. This role is pivotal in executing a strategic sales plan targeting national accounts, foodservice distributors, and regional chains, while building and maintaining strong, long-lasting relationships with key customers. The Director will oversee the execution of a comprehensive annual sales plan, manage large-scale contracts, and collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams to ensure the company's goals are met. Reports to: EVP of Sales, Marketing and Commercialization

This role has the ability to work in-office, remotely, or in a hybrid capacity.

Key Objectives:
  • Create and execute a Foodservice sales strategy to drive revenue growth with new and existing customers.
  • Maintain effective and cooperative relationships with our customers and the Deli Star cross-functional team.
  • Monitor and track progress to ensure Deli Stars goals are being met.
  • Conduct high-level industry research to develop effective sales solutions.
  • Participate in collaborative business meetings to update key stakeholders.


Description of Objectives:

Create and execute a Foodservice sales strategy to drive revenue growth with new and existing customers
  • Target national accounts, foodservice distributors and regional chains.
  • Identify prospective new customers, plan discovery sessions and develop compelling product solutions to solve their needs.
  • Develop and execute the annual sales plan inclusive of innovation, market trends, strategic partnerships, selling strategies and expense budgets.
  • Negotiate large-scale customer contracts and pricing agreements.
  • Construct and track sales forecast for use in Sales & Operations Planning meetings.
  • Build a strong knowledge and understanding of product applications for key customer segments.
  • Be a valuable customer resource for product and service issues.
  • Identify culinary trends and develop solutions and ideas to capitalize on the opportunities.
  • Plan and participate in trade shows and trade activities which are consistent with Deli Star objectives.


Maintain effective and cooperative relationships with our customers and the Deli Star cross-functional team
  • Develops and maintains strong customer relationships that stand the test of time.
  • Strategically communicates upward to drive organizational alignment.
  • Build connections with the Deli Star cross-functional team (QA, Supply Chain, Marketing, Finance, R&D, etc.) through open communication and time spent together at the FDC and manufacturing facility.
  • Assist Accounts Receivable Department on credit/collection issues.
  • Continually develop selling skills and abilities to deliver a professional and strategically relevant plan for all customers.
  • Provide continuous, constructive feedback to the organization to help uncover opportunities for improvement.


Qualifications:
  • Proven record of sales growth in a B2B environment managing large national accounts
  • 10 years experience in Sales, Marketing or Customer Service
  • Strong knowledge of business development and sales growth techniques
  • Exceptional project management and strategic planning talents
  • Clear verbal and written communication and negotiation skills
  • Enthusiasm for Deli Star's mission and its growth potential
  • Bachelor's degree required, food industry experience preferred
  • Travel for customer meetings, trade shows and industry events
