Responsibilities

The Admissions Coordinator is concerned with all aspects of the admission process for Centre for Neuro Skills. This includes handling referral calls, coordinating with the patients, families, case managers, insurance companies, attorneys, etc. as well as effectively communicating with the Director of Admissions, Community Liaison staff, Director of Rehabilitation, Residential Rehabilitation Manager and Nursing. The position requires extensive telephone and computer use. Your key responsibilities will include:
  • Screen referral calls and perform follow up as necessary. This includes: researching and documenting patient information; researching insurance benefits; obtaining medical records; scheduling evaluation; obtaining preauthorization approval; discussing evaluation with insurance company; preparing cost projections; and documenting all calls and activities in detail.
  • Coordinate admission of patients with the patient, family, carrier, attorney, CNS staff and social worker or discharge planner at the transferring facility.
  • Coordinate and consult with CNS staff as necessary including Director of Rehabilitation, Residential Rehabilitation Manager and Nursing for admission availability, patient needs, admission agreements, etc. Work with clinic staff and Case Management to coordinate and provide necessary communication to referral entity and complete the necessary paperwork and documentation that allows for smooth patient admission. Provide information to external and internal staff as necessary.
  • Coordinate travel arrangements with the transferring facility for patients and their families when necessary.
  • Determine priority of cases.
  • Prepare cost projections and negotiate rates of reimbursement, length of stay, patient ancillary needs (medications, durable medical equipment, physicians, labs) with adjusters, case managers, attorneys and families. Consult with Vice Presidents as needed concerning cost projections, liens, etc. Provide information to families concerning their financial responsibilities.
  • Provide tours to perspective patients, families, carriers, attorneys, etc. May be required to work on weekends as needed.
  • Develop and maintain professional business relationships quickly with referral sources, family/patient, and insurance company personnel.
  • Determine the appropriate approach to use (including determining whether to utilize marketing staff) when promoting sales.
  • Make independent decisions or judgments based on sensory data or known guidelines.

Qualifications

Successful candidates will have:
  • Passion for Care: A deep understanding of the requirements for providing the type of care and supervision needed by patients, including the ability to communicate effectively with them.
  • Leadership Skills: The ability to recruit, employ, train, and evaluate qualified staff, and to make tough decisions when necessary.

Experience and Education
  • Educational Background: Degree in allied health, business or related area preferred.
  • Work Experience: Experience in admissions or discharge planning or case management preferred.
  • Specialized Knowledge: Must have basic knowledge of computers and software, for example, Excel, WordPerfect, Word. Must be able to document referral and admission information in CNS databases.Must keep documentation up to date. Must be detail-oriented, have strong personal organization skills, and the ability to multi-task. Performs other duties as assigned

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including skill sets, experience, education and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It's not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are arrived at each unique case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $66,000 - $110,000.00.
