The Tooling Engineer 3 ensures the design and development of tools, test equipment and prototypes required during research and development and the industrialization of new products, as well as the management of continued operations of existing tooling and testing equipment in Production. This role leads the development team to ensure the tools and test equipment and prototypes are designed and built according to program commitments, quality, safety and cost objectives. Leads supply chain on complex make versus buy decisions regarding the tools and equipment and ensure Cabin tooling standards are followed. Manages and works with suppliers on technical aspects of the equipment to arrive at the final products that will meet testing requirements. Defines and manages the maintenance, storage, and spare parts protocols of new tools and existing tools.

This position contributes to our vision by:
1. Oversee leadership of tooling and testing equipment requirements for assigned projects in New Product Introduction, Transfers of Work, Design Updates.
2. Lead Design and Manufacturing teams to ensure highly complex tooling, jigs, fixtures, test boxes, electronic test equipment for all applicable product types are designed and implemented to meet program requirements.
3. Lead and manage the specification, design, manufacture and implementation of new tools to support program objectives of delivery, cost, quality and safety
4. Lead tooling maintenance and storage protocols and verify those are planned for all tools
5. Lead multiple engineering disciplines and supply chain as the Point of Contact for the management and procurement of complex and high value designed tools and equipment from suppliers in support of technical and cost objectives
6. Collaborate with Operations and Program management to ensure that necessary production floor space and support are available for prototype development, production use, and tool storage
7. Provide input to Design IPTs for components, systems, and programs

The expected salary range for this position is between $82,360 - $129,430 USD. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, education, and other factors permitted by law.

Education:
Bachelor's degree, or equivalent, in Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering or related technical field.

Experience:
Minimum 7-8 years related experience in highly regulated engineering design or production environment, specializing in tooling and testing, with a minimum of 1 year of technical leadership experience.

Computer Skills:
Fluency with ERP systems
Advanced knowledge of CATIA V5 & SmarTeam
Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Advanced knowledge of eMaint is a plus
Knowledge of LabView is a plus

Other Skills:
Deep knowledge of common materials and manufacturing processes used in the aerospace industry
Proven ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and models at a system level
Proven ability to read and interpret complex circuitry designs and drawings.
Knowledge of electronics, analog / digital circuitry for test boxes, electrical test equipment
Highly developed organization and communication skills
Ability to work well independently and cross-functionally without oversight.
Excellent communication, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
Strong knowledge of primary assembly processes
3D modelling ability
Tooling, electronic test equipment design
Use of LEAN tools,
Green Belt certification is a plus
