Sr. Systems Engineer - Data Storage and Protection

Summary of Position

Lionsgate Canadas IT Department is looking for Sr. Systems Engineer Data Storage and Protection to join the team. This role is critical in the Infrastructure & Operations team, ensuring the availability, integrity, and security of enterprise data. This is a global rolebasedin Toronto, Ontariowithresponsibility for data storage and protection across all Lionsgate sites. This individualwillbe responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of data storage and protection solutions across on-premises/virtualand cloud environments. This role requires a strong understanding of various storage technologies, backup methodologies, and data governance principles. The ability to collaborate effectivelywithother I&O teams, applicationsupportteams, and database administrators is essential.

Responsibilities

• Storage Administration:
• Install, configure, and manage Dell storage solutions (Unity, Isilon, PowerStore, etc.) to meet business needs.
• Implement and maintain storage area networks (SANs) and network-attached storage (NAS) environments.
• Manage FCAL fabric using CLI, WWN zoning, VSANs, zones and zone sets
• Perform storage provisioning, capacity planning, and performance optimization.
• Troubleshoot storage-related issues, including performance problems, connectivity issues, and hardware failures.
• Data Protection:
• Design, implement, and manage data backup and recovery solutions using Avamar VE, Isilon SnapshotIQ, and other relevant technologies.
• Develop and maintain backup policies and procedures for various systems, including MS SQL, HANA DB, and O365.
• Perform regular backup and recovery testingtoensure data integrity and recoverability.
• Monitor backup jobs and resolve any failures or issues.
• Data Governance:
• Implement and maintain data governance policies and procedures, including data classification, retention, and disposal.
• Utilize data tagging and metadata management tools to enhance data organization and searchability.
• Collaboratewithdata owners and stakeholderstoensure compliancewithdata governance standards.
• Cloud Technologies:
• Demonstrate a foundational understanding of cloud storage and data protection services in AWS and Azure.
• Assist in evaluating and implementing cloud-basedstorage and backup solutions.
• Manage data migration and replication between on-premises and cloud environments.
• Monitoring and Troubleshooting:
• Monitor storage infrastructure and backup systems using monitoring tools.
• Analyze system logs and eventstoidentify and resolve issues.
• Escalate complex problemstosenior engineers or vendors.
• Participate inon-callrotationtoprovide after-hourssupport.
• Documentation:
• Maintain accurate and up-to-datedocumentation for storage and backup environments, including system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
• Contributetoknowledge base articles and otherinternaldocumentation resources.

Qualifications and Skills

• Education:Bachelor'sdegreein Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalentworkexperience.
• Experience:
• 7+yearsof experience in storage administration,witha strong focus on Dell storage solutions (Isilon, PowerStore).
• 5+yearsof hands-onexperiencewithdata protection solutions (Avamar VE, SnapshotIQ, Veeam).
• Experiencewithenterprise database backup and recovery (MSSQL, HANA DB) using tools like RedGate.
• ExperiencewithCohesity or other similar data management platforms is aplus.
• Technical Skills:
• Strong understanding of storage technologies (SAN, NAS, object storage).
• Proficiency in data backup and recovery methodologies.
• Knowledge of data governance principles and best practices.
• Familiaritywithscripting languages (e.g., PowerShell) is desirable.
• Experience managing cloud platforms (Azure and/or AWS) and their storage and backup services.
• Other Skills:

• Storage for AWS instances (EBS) and S3 cloud storage including AWS Storage gateway
• NAS DR failover automation solution (Superna Eyeglass)
• NAS Ransomware Protection system (Superna Eyeglass Ransomware Defender)
• NAS monitoring systems: Superna Performance Auditor
• Cohesity backup platformwithair gaped BaaS solution (FortKnox) for MC data
• MSSQL backups in AWS using RedGate host-basedsoftware.
• Native AWS backups for instance level backups
• Data migration projects between systems and sites
• Media/data destruction procedures
• Veritas Net Backup
• Other: IBM Aspera, Veeam for O365, PowerShell (desirable)
