Introduction
Would you like to play a key role in the Wisconsin Conservation Congress?
The DNR is currently recruiting to fill their Wisconsin Conservation Congress Liaison position. This position will be responsible for the planning, coordination, and administration of the Conservation Congress statewide while maintaining and cultivating working relationships with DNR staff and the public.
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is dedicated to working with Wisconsinites while preserving and enhancing the natural resources of Wisconsin. In partnership with individuals and organizations, DNR staff manage fish, wildlife, forests, parks, air and water resources, while promoting a healthy, sustainable environment and a full range of outdoor opportunities.
This position is headquartered at the State Natural Resource Building (GEF 2) in downtown Madison, which is conveniently located near various restaurants and coffee shops. Remote work up to 60% may be available pending supervisor approval.

Position Summary
This position is responsible for serving as DNR's liaison to the Conservation Congress as well as being responsible for the development and implementation of liaison and communication services between the Conservation Congress and other parties. While this position reports directly to the Internal Services Division Administrator, it also provides advice and consultation directly to the Secretary's Office.

Salary Information
The classification of this position is Natural Resources Liaison Specialist, which is in schedule-range 07-03 with a starting salary of $74,880 - $92,206 annually, based on qualifications. This position is not represented by a collective bargaining unit. A 12-month probationary period may be required. Pay for state employees will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan.

Work Hours: Occasional night and weekend hours will be required, based on business needs.
Travel: Travel to the central portion of the state will be frequent, with occasional travel to other locations of the state for meetings/conferences. Additional travel is needed for Fall Conservation Congress Committee meetings, Fall District meetings, the January Executive Council meeting, Spring District meetings, Spring Hearings, the Annual Convention, the May Executive Council meeting, those Natural Resources Board meetings out of Madison, and quarterly AFL-CIO conservation committee meetings.

- Education and/ or work experience in natural resources management, outdoor nature-based recreation, environmental quality regulation, and/or environmental enforcement.
- Experience developing and administering policies and/or procedures.
- Experience facilitating public input on policies and/or procedures.
- Experience coordinating and disseminating communications to multiple diverse stakeholders.
In addition, preferred qualifications include any of the following criteria:
- Experience managing public input on policies or projects that have a statewide or greater impact related to environmental or natural resources policy initiatives.
- Experience with project management and/or directing the work of other staff.
- Experience working with executive-level leadership in an organization, committee, board, or similar (e.g., WCC Executive Committee, Natural Resources Board, etc.).
