This position is located in the Division of Facilities and Transportation Services (DFTS), Bureau of Building Management and is headquartered at the DOA Office Building at the Revenue Building, 2135 Rimrock Road, Madison, WI.

Position Summary

The HVAC Controls Automation Specialist is responsible for installation and commissioning of multiple brands of building automation equipment. In addition, this position includes overseeing, maintaining, troubleshooting the current computer based programs and applications for the operation of the Department of Administration owned and managed buildings which currently include Johnson Control Metasys, Alerton Compass, Distech Controls, Automated Logic, and Carrier ComfortView computerized building control systems.

This position is also responsible for providing development, integration and implementation of all building management system applications and programs that are used to operate, monitor and control the building systems managed by the bureau.

They will also manage the continual development and maintenance of these systems including replacing hardware as needed, assisting in the building automation phase of construction projects, both new and retrofit, software changes and revision downloads, and performance analysis of equipment.

This position will implement the integration and use of all technology and provide all supporting policies, procedures and technical assistance for users of the applications and will develop and provide training for all systems users in line with appropriate authority to use system.

Salary Information

This position is in schedule-range (07-34) with a salary between $68,640 and $94,452. A 12-month probationary period is required. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the WI State compensation plan.

Job Details

Qualifications

Qualified candidates will have knowledge, training or experience in :

  • Installation, commissioning, and/or functional testing of building automation hardware/software
  • Computer experience with computer applications like network management software, hardware interface, databases, spreadsheet generation and analysis or similar.

Well qualified candidates will have knowledge, training or experience in :

  • Developing, writing, and debugging computer program user interfaces and control programs
  • Computer programs and applications used for automated building control systems (e.g. Johnson Control Metasys, Tridium\Niagara, Distech, Allen Bradley, Carrier CCN i-VU, or similar)
  • Building business relationships (e.g. working with customers and businesses for inter-business activities, acting as point of contact, business liaison, or similar)
