Brief Overview:
Under the direction of the Mtis Nation-Saskatchewan (MN-S) Director of Environment, Mtis Nation-Saskatchewan is seeking a strong team player to oversee the duty to consult and accommodate support process for Mtis rights-bearing communities. The Consultation Manager will be responsible for the development and execution of all consultation support deliverables and for providing support and direction to the Consultation team staff.
The Consultation Manager will manage various projects within the province of Saskatchewan that have triggered the duty to consult and accommodate process and require consultation with the Mtis people of the province. The role will work with industry development proponents, Mtis rights-holding communities, various levels of government, other Ministries within MN-S, and others to coordinate the MN-S's approach to these projects to ensure that Mtis voices are heard on development projects that may affect their rights and traditional practices.

The Consultation Manager will be responsible for the development and execution of all consultation support deliverables and for providing support and direction to the Consultation team staff.
The Consultation Manager will manage various projects within the province of Saskatchewan that have triggered the duty to consult and accommodate process and require consultation with the Mtis people of the province. The role will work with industry development proponents, Mtis rights-holding communities, various levels of government, other Ministries within MN-S, and others to coordinate the MN-S's approach to these projects to ensure that Mtis voices are heard on development projects that may affect their rights and traditional practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate between project proponents, stakeholders, rightsholders, Mtis communities, and various governments.
- Develop and maintain a workplan for each project.
- Oversee consultation and engagement sessions and working group meetings for various projects.
- Review notifications from government related to duty to consult, log, track, and escalate as needed to other MN-S Ministries and departments.
- Act as the first point of contact with proponents in person, via email, and over the phone.
- Coordinate the activities and delegated tasks of the Consultation team.
- Manage, distribute, and coordinate all incoming and outgoing communications.
- Work closely with other Ministry of Lands and Environment staff and Government Legal Services.
- Support the preparation, review, and submit reports to funding agencies, community, and project proponents.
- Coordinate work hired out to third party vendors.
- Develop and maintain community leadership.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong project management skills.
- In depth knowledge of Mtis culture and traditional activities and rights.
- Knowledge of Mtis communities, their history, traditions and practices.
- Experience working in support of Section 35 duty to consult and accommodate processes.
- Strong computer skills (including Microsoft Word, Excel, database software, electronic communication tools such as Microsoft Outlook).
- Experience with project management software.
- Well-developed writing, public speaking, and presentation skills.
- Ability to lead a team effectively.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree in project management, Environmental Studies, Indigenous Studies, and/or related field.
- Background with experience in Legal, project management, or municipal administration is required.
- 3+ years of experience working in the relevant field.
Additional requirements:
- Must undergo a Criminal Record Check
- Valid Saskatchewan driver's license and access reliable transportation
