Title: Production Engineer
Compensation: $125K to $155K, commensurate with experience. Plus Benefits & Bonus.
Location: West of Houston, TX

Company Description:
Our client's specialty synthetic wax segment produces specialty polyethylene and poly alpha olefin waxes and provides custom processing services. The specialty polyethylene waxes are used in markets from paints and inks to adhesives, coatings, and PVC lubricants. The highly specialized synthetic poly alpha olefin waxes are used in applications such as toner in printers and as additives for candles providing rigidity and retention of fragrances. These waxes are sold in solid form as pastilles or, for large adhesive companies, in bulk liquid form.

Position Description:
The Production Engineer has ultimate accountability for the performance of the assets assigned the location. They will be working to optimize production lines, working with supply chain, drive yield improvements. This person will not be working on large capital projects. Responsibilities:
  • Work with Operations to troubleshoot day to day issues that occur. Ensure production plan is delivered. Understand and assist Operation to control unit specification on processes being monitored
  • Collects/Monitor production data and applies standard scientific and statistical methods to analyze, document, and optimize production processes by increasing throughput, improving asset capability, improving yield and reducing cost. Understand and be able to use data collection / analysis program {PI / Trendminer}. Understand and be able to use Chemcad - model for process monitoring and optimization.
  • Recommend changes or upgrades to procedures, equipment, work methods, or other aspects of the process to improve efficiency and utilization of resources including labor, energy and raw materials. Identifies process bottlenecks and devises solutions to resolve. Improves process reliability, production, and quality while maintaining and improving operations safety standards. Generate opportunity project list for the units being monitored.
  • Conduct tests on equipment / processes and evaluate the tests results to determine if the processes / equipment efficiency has improved by either reducing risk, increasing production, or reducing costs.
  • Develop or enhance, along with assisting in implementing, plant operating procedures to standardize a given process, which will reduce risk, increase production, or reduce costs successfully.
  • Leads or participates in incident investigations and advises on corrective actions for the processes being monitored. Participate in Process Hazard Analysis studies (PHA's) on the processes that are assigned.
  • Supports / Direct / Champion small capital projects (less than $25,000) to make sure they are implemented safely, efficiently, and work as designed with in budget.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 6 years of plant operation experience in either a batch or continuous environment.
  • Proven leadership skills and ability to influence at a local level and across a broad organization.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and practices.
  • Strong communication skills, interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships.
Education & Certifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related experience required.
