The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is seeking a Network Administrator to join our team.

As the Network Administrator you will be responsible for the operating health, maintenance, and timely recovery of the network, data systems, voice systems, and software applications for all locations of the YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties. If hired for this position, you will design, implement, and maintain an environment that meets service level requirements and security standards for public and private network presence. You will also serve as technical lead for all hardware and software support, participate in all IT projects, change management, and policy and procedure review and revisions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Installing, configuring, and managing network devices like routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • Continuously monitoring network performance, identifying and resolving issues related to connectivity, bandwidth, and network latency.
  • Evaluating and implementing new network technologies, software updates, and hardware upgrades to maintain optimal performance.
  • Implementing and maintaining network security measures to protect against unauthorized access, data breaches, and cyber threats.
  • Maintain detailed network documentation, including network topology and configuration details.
  • Ensure effective and efficient operation of the network and related infrastructure to support business demands to include oversight of system-wide network capacity planning.
  • Provide direction and assist in problem-solving with local and remote IT staff who support the technology environment.
  • Interface with vendors and building contractors to facilitate network implementations at new/existing locations.
  • Maintain relationships with service providers to ensure up-time of network, cable TV, and phone systems both analog and IP.
  • Assist other IT team members on an as needed basis.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:
  • Associate degree or higher in Information Technology or equivalent or a minimum of 5 years' experience as a network administrator or engineer.
  • You should possess a minimum of seven years of experience providing configuration and troubleshooting support with enterprise firewalls, switches, and routers.
  • Ability to configure network devices via CLI tools.
  • Familiarity with SD-WAN and MPLS infrastructure.
  • Working knowledge of Palo Alto Firewalls, HPE/Aruba switches, Cisco switches/routers, and Extreme Wireless access points is a plus.
  • Positive attitude, with the ability to work with others within the IT Department and across the organization.
  • Must be able to pass Background and Reference checks (in accordance with the WA State Fair Chance Act).

  • Able and willing to complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on first day, and other online and in-person training as required.


Compensation: $115,000.00 to 125,000.00 per year, depending on qualifications

Position type: Full-Time, Exempt position. This is a hybrid position.

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8AM-5PM, with additional coverage required on an as needed basis

Network Administrator Job Description

Position Summary

The Network Administrator is responsible for developing and maintaining the voice and data network. Researches, advises, and implements new network systems, software and architecture. Provides a quality experience to members focused on YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.

Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible for architectural provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, documentation and maintenance of the organization's LAN, WAN, Wifi and VoIP software, servers, and interfaces.
  • Accountable for significantly contributing to the overall technical architecture, stability, resiliency, and general health-related to network engineering and is a top-level technical contributor with advanced knowledge and experience in network and related hardware/software.
  • Participation, planning, and management of technical implementations of various sizes and scales.
  • Act as an organizational interface with vendors and provides internal analysis and support.
  • Manage the performance of multiple hardware and software platform interfaces.
  • Provide direction and assist in problem-solving with local and remote IT staff who support the network environment.
  • Ensure effective and efficient operation of the network and related infrastructure to support business demands to include oversite of system-wide network capacity planning.
  • Responsible for the development and enforcement of corporate security standards.
  • Responsible for customer service management related to the network team, meeting with vendors, and establishing and managing processes and procedures that follow industry standards such as ITIL, Six-Sigma, LEAN, etc.
  • Assist in deployment and maintenance of PC's and peripherals for the YMCA.
  • Manage help desk tickets to ensure service level agreements are being met.
  • Responsible for shifts and department coverage that can vary depending on the lack of coverage needs.
  • Meet performance measurement by telling the Y story and raising charitable dollars to fulfill our mission.
  • Assist staff leadership team in reaching campaign goals through recruiting campaigners, making personal asks and supporting branch events.


Qualifications, Skills and Abilities
Associate's degree in computer science or equivalent or a minimum of 5 years' experience as a network administrator or engineer.
You should possess a minimum of seven years of experience providing configuration and troubleshooting support with enterprise firewalls, switches, and routers.
Strong understanding and experience with MPLS, MLA VPN's and Traffic Engineering along with ITIL Service Operation concepts are also critical success factors.
Knowledge of Palo Alto Firewalls, Shoretel VOIP Systems, HPE Aruba switches, Aerohive Wireless, SCCM and PC Hardware.
Solid ability to gather information and obtain an understanding of business needs, with the ability to establish and maintain a high level of customer trust and confidence is imperative.
Knowledge of and experience in installing network hardware and coordinating vendor support for specialized products, implementing corporate security strategies, managing server backup strategies, , and maintaining TCP/IP subnet structure.
Positive attitude and previous experience with diverse populations.
Able and willing to complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on first day, and other online and in-person training as required.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands

  • Cleaning and sanitation protocols will be required of all staff.
  • Staff will be responsible for frequent touchpoint cleaning and sanitizing in specific areas.
  • Train and support staff on safety protocols, cleaning and sanitizing.
  • Staff are expected to adhere to all safety protocols and procedures, including the use of PPE.
