Senior Director of Production - Maternity Leave Cover (May 1, 2025-September 15, 2026)

Our Production Department is a dynamic team of event production and build production specialists, each bringing unique skills to create vibrant brand activations and events. We are passionate about creating memorable experiences and support all types of activations and events at the agency including XM activations, trade shows, receptions, conferences, festivals, sporting events, awards shows and concerts. Responsibilities

  • Ownership, oversight and development of onsite production needs for events and activations including but not limited to venue selection & coordination, hospitality management, show production, AV coordination, site & seating plans, dcor, builds and graphics production, participant logistics management, talent & entertainment advancing and logistics
  • Production Team Leadership including annual department goal creation and tracking, supporting team growth and development, and fostering an inclusive and motivating work environment
  • Collaboration with Creative and Client Service departments throughout all stages of project lifecycles to achieve desired creative intentions and business objectives, while working through feasibility and budget/timeline constraints
  • Lead new business proposals and new project intake for Production including feasibility assessment, cost analysis and budget development, briefing and pitch presentations
  • Support business profitability through revenue generation, cost saving measures, vendor negotiations and efficient spending
  • Drive team processes, tools (including Asana - project management software), templates and ways of working internally and in collaboration with other departments
  • Production Team Resourcing for project assignments balancing business needs with skillsets and availability of team members, including billable hours tracking and new hires/contractor management as required
  • Senior Oversight on all programs supported by the Production Team to support problem-solving, effective communication/collaboration and ensure program delivery meets and exceeds quality standards
  • Participate in Operations Leadership Team to collectively decide how to approach team goals and support team morale, while strategizing development of the Production Team within the greater organization. This role reports into VP, Operations.
  • Lead on department HR requirements including performance feedback, promotions, warnings, and escalations as required
  • Approach all work with a focus on sustainability and reducing environmental impact
  • Day-to-day management of up to 4 direct reports of senior team members.
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications

  • 12-15 years of related work experience encompassing various event and activation categories
  • 2-5 years of related experience in a marketing agency or similar environment with a focus on development and execution of brand activations and experiences
  • 5-10 years of supervisory management of multiple direct reports and/or project teams of more than 10 individuals
  • Participation in the following employment actions: hiring, termination, corrective action and performance reviews.
  • Leadership roles on multiple simultaneous projects with overlapping deliverables and requirements
  • Practical knowledge in event permitting, staging, audio & video, fabrication, dcor, venue management, and catering
  • Base technical knowledge in aspects of build production including knowledge of materials, substrates and finishing methods for build and print
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams)
  • Solid understanding of social media tools and digital platforms
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Physical requirements of this position include sight and color perception, the ability to traverse elevated environments, the ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs.

Preference may be given to candidates with the following:
  • Associate degree or Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Event Management, or another Related field
  • Proficiency in show calling for corporate productions
  • Experience with Asana or other project management software
  • Valid driver's license
  • Passport and ability to travel internationally

  • Ethical Practice: The ability to apply good morals in work behaviour and decision making, such as following ethical guidelines, maintaining honesty, or demonstrating social responsibility.

Additional information:
  • This position requires the employee to use their personal cell phone and compensation is provided towards monthly phone bill expenses
  • This is a hybrid-remote role with a requirement to spend a minimum of 3 days/week at the office or on-site in various locations for event delivery
