Minimum Qualification
Licensure as a Pharmacist with NM Board of Pharmacy and six (6) years of experience as a Licensed Pharmacist and two (2) years of management experience as it pertains to the essential duties and responsibilities of the classification. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field above licensure requirements and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling eight (8) years may substitute for the required experience.

Why does the job exist?
The Director of Pharmacy will:
- Supervise the other pharmacists in the division and oversee the strategy and operations of the pharmacy program;
- Oversee the roll-out of the aligned preferred drug list;
- Stand-up any value based contracting the state chooses to participate.
How does it get done?
The Director of Pharmacy is responsible for:
- Communicating with stakeholders about the pharmacy program, including community pharmacies;
- Overseeing contract requirements in the managed care contract and ensuring compliance by Managed Care Organization (MCO) partners;
- Rolling out the aligned preferred drug list;
- Providing pharmacy analysis of legislative bills;
- Supervising other pharmacists within the division;
- Overseeing Preferred Drug List (PDL) vendor contract.
Who are the customers?
- Medicaid division and their members.
Ideal Candidate
The Ideal Candidate has:
- A strong public health background;
- Experience working with Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and clinical responsibilities;
- Experience with supervision and training.
