The Department of Workforce Development's (DWD) Division of Vocational Rehabilitation ( DVR ) maintains 11 Workforce Development Areas (WDAs) across the state where teams of DVR staff work together to assist Wisconsin residents with their job search efforts.
This position will be headquartered in WDA 2 in either the Milwaukee South, Central, or West Allis office. Headquarters will be determined during the hiring process.
The person hired into this position may be permitted to work remotely up to 80% (4 days per week) after an initial training period. High speed internet access is required to meet the needs of remote work. Ability to work remotely is subject to change based on business needs.

Salary Information
Starting pay is between $38.00 and $41.00 per hour, depending on qualifications, plus an exemplary benefits package :

The classification title for this position is Vocational Rehabilitation Supervisor (schedule 81, range 03). A 12-month probationary period will be required. This position is not represented in a collective bargaining unit and is considered exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act.
Pay will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan in effect at the time of appointment. Starting pay may vary for current state employees.
Job Details
Travel: Occasional daytime travel within the WDA ( see WDA map ), and statewide travel including overnights, is a requirement of this position. Reimbursement for mileage and a daily meal allowance is provided when in travel status based on travel guidance.
Remote work: Employees with approved remote and hybrid-remote work arrangements are generally expected to work within the state of Wisconsin. High-speed internet access is required to meet the needs of remote work. Remote work options are subject to change.
Criminal histories: W e also consider all qualified applicants with criminal histories, consistent with applicable federal, state and local law. Finalists for this position may be required to allow DWD to conduct a background check or other checks to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled. For positions with access to sensitive federal tax information, FBI fingerprinting may also be required.
Eligibility to work in United States: Applicants must be legally entitled to work in the United States (i.e. a US citizen or national or a lawful permanent resident) at the time of appointment. DWD does not sponsor visas and is not an eligible OPT employer for those with F1 visas. This is not a contract position. Any appointment made will be contingent on the applicant completing the I-9 upon hire.

Position Summary
- Program Management: Develop, supervise, and monitor programs
- Collaboration: Coordinate with state, private partners, and employers to achieve high-quality employment outcomes
- Program Development: Create and implement innovative VR programs using cooperative agreements with local government units
- Budget Oversight: Interpret policies and manage operational and case service budgets across the WDA
- Staff Supervision: Recommend staffing actions (hiring, promotions, discipline) and supervise subordinate staff
- Team Development: Foster employee teams to improve customer service within the WDA
- Collaborates on special projects: including improving service delivery for underserved communities in Milwaukee

Salary Information

- *S erving in a formal leadership role in a professional environment overseeing administrative support, professional and/or program related functions e.g. team lead, lead worker, project manager, strategist, mentor, etc.
- *R epresenting a program for the purpose of negotiation and/or collaboration with partner agencies or others
- Prioritizing work appropriately to make progress on multiple concurrent projects/assignments with limited instruction and guidance
- Communicating and relating interpersonally with a diverse group to maintain effective working relationships
Any of the following experience would be nice to have:
- *A formal supervisory role overseeing employees in performing administrative support, professional, and/or program related functions (e.g., manager, supervisor, clinical supervisor, intern/LTE supervisor, etc.). Includes responsibilities such as hiring, disciplining, terminating, evaluation/developing performance, etc.
- *Managing programs, projects, services, or processes that involved exposure to budgeting, performance monitoring, reporting or planning/coordinating the use of resources (including managing a caseload, policy development and implementation, authorizing/overseeing case service funds, reporting performance, etc.).
- *Working in a vocational rehabilitation setting or closely related fiel d
