Description

Essential Functions

Instruction
  • Plan and implement a developmentally appropriate program geared to transitional kindergarten children in order to bridge the preschool and kindergarten worlds.
  • Develops lesson plans, provide individualized, whole, and small group instruction.
  • Scaffold and differentiate lessons for students and provide intervention and enrichment as necessary to address students' specific needs.
  • Implement classroom management techniques to create a nurturing and structured classroom environment and structure.
  • Maintains open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning both the academic and behavioral progress of all assigned students.
  • Maintain student data towards TK learning goals that will be included in report cards and parent-teacher conferences
  • Provide a safe learning environment for students.
  • Participate in professional development and/or staff meetings.
  • Participate in parent conferences, IEP meetings, Student Success Team Meetings and any other school meetings that require teacher participation.

  • Demonstrate knowledge and support of Synergy's mission, vision, policies and procedures, and charter petition.
  • Establish a culture of high expectations that includes college preparation for all students.
  • Communicate and collaborate professionally with families, students, community members and co-workers.
  • Provide students and their families with regular and timely information on classroom activities and student progress.
  • Maintain a professional manner when working with students, staff and parents/families via both oral and written communication.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • California Teaching Credential (intern, preliminary or clear) and one of the following:
    • At least 24 units in early childhood education, childhood development or both from a regionally-accredited college or university.
    • as determined and documented by the local educational agency employing the teacher, professional experience in a classroom setting with preschool age. children meeting the criteria established by the governing board or body of the local educational agency that is comparable to the 24 units of education; or
    • a Child Development Teacher Permit, or an early childhood education specialist credential, issued from the Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC).


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree.
