Commissioning Specialist

Job Description Summary
Reporting to the Commissioning Manager, the Commissioning Specialist is responsible for performing the tests under GE GSI scope of work determined by the Commissioning Manager / Coordinator for the specific project according with safety, quality, and technical requirements. Working with the Commissioning Lead and Commissioning Coordinator, the Commissioning Specialist will be executing the commissioning plan with the on-site supervision of the Commissioning Lead or equivalent, performing the tests, ensuring the products and equipment reach an acceptable result as per the documentation, troubleshooting when necessary, and submitting the test reports as soon as they are finished to the team for review. It's also a responsibility of the Commissioning Specialist to provide feedback about the tests and processes to improve them and/or to correct potential gaps.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Preparation and planning phase:
• Support the project execution team on commissioning matters.
• Technical governance and customer relations on commissioning matters.
• Plan and support pre-commissioning effort (instrumentation, documentation, etc.).

Execution phase:

• Ensure work is performed safely according with GE standards and local requirements.
• Contribute to overall quality and excellence in execution of commissioning.
• Perform instrument functionality verification at site.
• Responsible for the start-up of the various auxiliaries' system.
• Conduct electrical commissioning tests on instrumentation.
• Conduct commissioning tests (electrical and mechanical) of auxiliaries' systems of Substation plants and synchronous condenser facilities.
• Perform the electrical test support for the start-up of Substation plants and synchronous condenser facilities.
• Perform LOTO and safety preparations as required for the commissioning tests.
• Provide support to the site teams regarding the technical issues or challenges.
• Keep good records about site activities, work performed, issues faced and how they were dealt with (non-conformity) to provide feedback to business and support it with information in case of claims.
• Collaborate in resolving complex problems.

Mandatory Qualifications / Requirements:

• Strong EHS culture.
• Be available for work on project sites in Canada and US.
• Good understanding of electro-mechanical systems.
• Ability to multitask and shift between many different projects and initiatives with tight deadlines.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, teamwork skills and autonomy.
• Ability to build strong customer relationships.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with minimum supervision.
• Strong customer service orientation.
• Ability to navigate cross-functions and create a good rapport with other teams (Project Management, Engineering, Finance, Fleet Support, EHS, HR, etc.).
• Ability to comply with mandatory requests on time, such as: trainings, timesheets, expense reports, daily reports, etc.
• Understand and implement, when required, cost and schedule control for commissioning scope.
• Must be proficient in French and English.

Technical:

• Technical skills in programming and testing of PLC's and Controls
• Testing of power distribution and delivery equipment of Low/medium Voltage Switchgear, disconnect switch, circuit breaker, capacitor bank, reactor, and Transformers.
• Testing of power distribution and delivery equipment of High Voltage Switchgear, Switchgear, disconnect switch, circuit breaker, capacitor bank, reactor, and Transformers.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.) and have good computer skills.

Desired Characteristics:

Proficiency in any data acquisition software considered an asset.

Electrical or mechanical installation experience considered an asset.

Responsabilits essentielles :

Phase de prparation et de planification :

• Soutenir l'quipe d'excution du projet sur les questions de mise en service.

• Gouvernance technique et relations avec les clients sur les questions de mise en service.

• Planifier et soutenir les efforts de pr-mise en service (instrumentation, documentation, etc.).

Phase d'excution :

• Veiller ce que le travail soit effectu en toute scurit conformment aux normes GE et aux exigences locales.

• Contribuer la qualit globale et l'excellence dans l'excution de la mise en service.

• Effectuer la vrification de la fonctionnalit des instruments sur site.

• Responsable du dmarrage des diffrents systmes auxiliaires.

• Raliser des tests de mise en service lectrique sur les instruments.

• Raliser des tests de mise en service (lectriques et mcaniques) des systmes auxiliaires des centrales de sous-station et des installations de condensateurs synchrones.

• Effectuer le support des tests lectriques pour le dmarrage des centrales de sous-station et des installations de condensateurs synchrones.

• Effectuer les prparations LOTO et de scurit ncessaires pour les tests de mise en service.

• Fournir un support aux quipes sur site concernant les problmes techniques ou les dfis.

• Tenir de bons dossiers sur les activits du site, le travail effectu, les problmes rencontrs et comment ils ont t rsolus (non-conformit) pour fournir des retours l'entreprise et la soutenir avec des informations en cas de rclamations.

• Collaborer la rsolution de problmes complexes.

Qualifications / Exigences obligatoires :

• Forte culture EHS.

• tre disponible pour travailler sur des sites de projet au Canada et aux tats-Unis.

• Bonne comprhension des systmes lectromcaniques.

• Capacit grer plusieurs tches et passer d'un projet l'autre avec des dlais serrs.

• Excellentes comptences interpersonnelles, comptences en travail d'quipe et autonomie.

• Capacit tablir de solides relations avec les clients.

• Capacit dmontre travailler efficacement avec un minimum de supervision.

• Forte orientation service client.

• Capacit naviguer entre les fonctions et crer une bonne relation avec les autres quipes (gestion de projet, ingnierie, finance, support de flotte, EHS, RH, etc.).

• Capacit respecter les demandes obligatoires dans les dlais, telles que : formations, feuilles de temps, rapports de dpenses, rapports quotidiens, etc.

• Comprendre et mettre en uvre, si ncessaire, le contrle des cots et des dlais pour le primtre de mise en service.

• Matrise du franais et de l'anglais.

Technique :

• Comptences techniques en programmation et test de PLC et de contrles.

• Test des quipements de distribution et de livraison d'nergie de basse/moyenne tension : appareillage de commutation, interrupteur de dconnexion, disjoncteur, batterie de condensateurs, racteur et transformateurs.

The salary range for this position is 78,800.00 - 105,000.00 - 131,200.00 USD Annual . The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's experience, their education, and the work location. In addition, this position is eligible for a performance bonus.
