We are seeking a highly skilled Associate Portfolio Manager to join our dynamic insurance asset management team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in public equity, alternative investments, investment operations, and insurance asset management.
This role works closely with other team members and assists the Chief Investment Officer in managing investment portfolios and maintaining relationships with financial institutions. The position requires strategic thinking, strong analytical abilities, and the capacity to manage multiple investment portfolios and projects.
The ideal candidate is a proactive self-starter, strong communicator, and detail-oriented professional.

$97,110 - $150,520 per year (commensurate with experience)

Duties and Responsibilities
- Portfolio management - Lead the management and monitoring of non-fixed income allocations, including public equity, equity-driven portfolios, alternative and venture investments, and impact investment programs. Oversee all aspects of portfolio management, trading, due diligence, transaction execution, risk management, and reporting.
- Strategy implementation - Support research, development, and implementation of investment strategies in alignment with the department's objectives and market conditions.
- Investment analysis - Conduct comprehensive research and analysis of market trends, financial statements, and economic indicators. Monitor events and trends to assess their impact on returns and risks.
- Risk management - Perform risk analysis, identify and mitigate investment risks, and ensure compliance with regulatory and policy requirements.
- Investment reporting - Prepare detailed reports, performance analyses, regulatory filings, and income forecasts for internal discussions and senior management review.
- Business relations - Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, providing regular updates and addressing concerns.
- Investment operations - Execute investment operations, including trade execution, settlement, and reconciliation, while contributing to process improvements.
- Insurance asset management - Manage assets within insurance liability profiles and regulatory frameworks, ensuring alignment with the company's investment strategy.
- Other responsibilities - Assist the Chief Investment Officer with additional duties as needed to support the department's objectives.
Education, Experience, and Skills
Education
- Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, business administration, or a related field.
- A master's degree or relevant professional designation (CFA, CAIA, CPA) is preferred.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience (7 years preferred) in portfolio management, public equity, alternative investments, and investment operations.
- Experience in insurance asset management is a plus.
- Candidates with slightly less experience but exceptional achievements may be considered.

- Analytical skills - Strong ability to analyze market trends, financial data, and economic indicators to inform investment decisions.
- Portfolio management - Expertise in managing and monitoring public equity, alternative investments, and impact investment programs.
- Risk management - Proficiency in identifying, assessing, and mitigating investment risks.
- Financial modeling - Strong skills in forecasting income, evaluating opportunities, and assessing financial performance.
- Communication - Excellent written and verbal communication skills for preparing reports, presentations, and engaging with stakeholders.
- Regulatory knowledge - Understanding of investment management compliance, accounting, and regulatory frameworks.
- Problem-solving & project management - Ability to analyze complex situations, identify solutions, and manage projects effectively.

- Attention to detail - Meticulous in portfolio management, trading, operations, and reporting.
- Technical proficiency - Familiarity with investment management software (e.g., Bloomberg Terminal).
