Description:

DUTIES:

1. Reports to the Chief of Special Education & Related Services
2. Supervise the special education process to ensure compliance.
3. Knowledge and experience working with out of district special education programs.
4. Act as a liaison between the Springfield Public Schools and other private and public schools in the transition and support of children with disabilities.
5. Keep informed of all legal requirements governing special education and the status of services available to students with special needs.
6. Assist in providing leadership and mentoring in the establishment of new programs and initiatives for children with disabilities through professional development to staff and families.
7. Perform any other duties as assigned by the Executive Officer of Special Education & Related Services

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. A Masters Degree from an accredited college or university.
2. Certified as a Special Education Administrator by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary & Secondary Education.
3. Three to five years of successful teaching experience in the areas of special education.
4. Demonstrated knowledge of IDEA 2004 and 603.CMR 28.00
5. Demonstrated knowledge in best practices in meeting the needs of all children with disabilities.

Annual Salary - $101,906.81 - $129,315.53
